Has anyone switched to BioHeat?
instead of regular oil heat yet?
There aren't too many companies that deliver to the east end, but there is one in nassau that has great pricing.
I'm planning on switching over starting with my next delivery. We do COD now so I don't have a contract to break.

Because I've never owned a house, I have no idea how many gallons of oil are used in an average home over the course of a year.
There is a 5 cent tax credit for every gallon of Bioheat - how many total gallons of oil would you say an average house uses in a year?
Obviously, I'm much more interested in it for the environmental factors but for it to be widely popular, people probably would look to savings first.

sorry i wasn't on much today.
I've gotten prices ranging from 2.69 per gallon to 3.09 per gallon. Yesterday the best COD price I could get for reg oil was 2.79.
I got in touch today with the only company that sells B95 for residential heating. Its 60% less emissions that regular heating oil & requires a slight tuning to the burner because all bioheat burns MUCH cleaner than traditional.
I'm going to get started with it for my next delivery, I'll let you know how it goes.

We don't use it, but when I was picking Sarah up from school yesterday I saw a truck for Tragar Oil and they had BioHeat and that they were a green energy company written on the side of the truck.

no I haven't I will be getting my first delivery in early december, show far I was quoted a price of $2.65, the bio heat I'll be using is 95% alternative fuel so the current price of oil shouldn't affect it much. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks! My husband and I are also looking into this. I'm just hoping it doesn't shock our 30 year old system! New boiler is on our list for next year.

eta: Kelly - where are you finding the 95% alternative fuel/B95? Is it a different provider? The Tragar bioheat is 5%/B5 alternative.
