For those who had a HSG and ttc right away.
Ok, I have been on TTC for some time and have a question. It seemed to be rumor that women are extremely fertile after a HSG and some get pregnant right afterward. Well I go for my HSG next week and just recieved instructions which state in bold and underline: "Conception should be avoided during the month of the hysterogram either through abstinence or with reliable contraception"
So my question, did some girls just not listened to their doctors or were those instructions not given, or was conception done the month after. Just curious, I was so ready to try for this month and now I'm seriously bummed.

I replied to you on the infertility board, but here is the reply again:
We BD that same night; I was told I could as long as I had no pain. Did not get pg that first month, but this is month #2 and I'm keeping the faith for now.

I wasn't told that. But I wasn't in the mood to BD, I was very crampy for about a day afterwards. Actually, I was told to abstain for 24 hours. Last month was my first post-HSG cycle. Did not result in a pregnancy.

I had my HSG test this past month and I wasn't told to abstain from BDing. I'm still moving forward with my TTC plan. AF is due on the 6th. My fingers are crossed.

I don't think it "makes you more fertile." I think sinc ethey push dye through your fallopian tubes it can remove small blockages that may have prevented sperm from traveling up the tube before. I had an hsg and was told to abstain for 2 days.

I tend to agree with this as well. My gyn told me there is a higher percentage rate of paitents (that she's seen) that get pregnant within the first 3 months after having an HSG. When I went for my first RE appointment (which was 2 weeks after my HSG), I asked the Dr and he said there's no proof of that.
