Anyone know of a good maternity photographer?

Hi everyone,

I'm expecting another baby in about 9 weeks or so and would like to get some maternity photos done. Didn't do them before but want to now. Anyone know of a reputable photographer who specializes in these types of photos?

I've been searching online for a few days and the only ones I'm coming up with are in Manhattan and are soooooo expensive (like close to $1000 not including everything either ). I'd really like to do this though.

Anyone else?

i have never taken pictures there so i dont know how good they are, but i got a flyer in the mail that JCP does maternity portraits??

I did a shoot (the morning I went into labor!!!!!) with Tony Roma in Sayville...... I liked the pics on his site..... we had an appt. to see the phots and select and then I had the baby!!!!

I will post once I am able to get to the studio to see them.....

Also, for 100 dollars he does the maternity shoot and a shoot with the baby before they turn 8 weeks......

FM ttsmom -- she's a mom on the adoption boards -- she does awesome photos. She can email you some samples of recent work she's done.

I noticed in the last BRU magazine/coupon book I got that there was a free 8x10 maternity photo coupon on the inside front cover for Kiddie Kandids. Not sure how their maternity pics are but I know they do really cute baby pics, my SIL uses them all the time.

I've taken my son to Kiddie Kandids three times, including last Thursday, and had no idea that they do maternity photos. I'll have to look into it. They do fabulous baby pics but from the experiences I've had there, I really can't see them doing maternity photos. I could be wrong though. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree with MelToddJulia - Imagine is INCREDIBLE. I've seen their work and while its a bit pricey its hands down the most BEAUTIFUL pregnancy pics I've ever seen. I used Lia to take pics when my daughter was 6 months old and they are still to this day my favorite pictures ever.

You can also call your wedding photographer (if you were happy with them). Almost all of them do maternity - I know Patken does.

I think it also depends on what style you are looking for - traditional, photojournalistic......etc. Let me know and I'll try to come up with more and point you in a better direction.

I am really looking for something out of the ordinary, meaning not just something my husband can take for me. I love all of those pictures with the woman looking like a goddess and/or black and whites, etc. After I had my son, I knew I wanted to do this for my next pregnancy but here I am at the beginning of 8 months and still haven't done a thing! LOL

We had Patken for our wedding pics 4.5 years ago. Never thought to contact them for these. That's a thought.

My husband doesn't want it to be expensive, though, which I totally understand. We just renovated our house in a major way, still doing little things, still have to do more and I'm taking a year off of work after this baby is born. So, while I really, really want fabulous pictures, I can not afford something like $500.
