what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

did you change your diet, exercise routine, take vitamins, stop drinking caffeine/alcohol, taking unnecessary medications (advil, allergy, antacid, etc.)?

My DH says I have to do all of the above BEFORE ttc, while I think I can do everything in moderation until my 2WW.

I'm a relatively healthy normal woman so I figure why change my lifestyle until I really know?

DH thinks this is being careless and selfish but it could take months or years and I don't think it's necessary.

what did you do to prepare?

You are right. As long as you don't have a history I would live life as before.

Other than start taking extra folic acid, and quitting smoking (if you smoke), there is no reason to change anything until you are pg.

I am avoiding advil, allergy medication, alcohol and coffee. I'm not crazy about taking any of those things anyway, and I figure if I can avoid it, why take the risk. If I really needed the medication, I probably would take it though until I got a bfp. Oh and I started taking a regular multivitamin with 400 mg of folic acid, as my doctor advised, almost a year ago.

I didn't change my lifestyle by much! I just started to take my prenatal vitamin & started excercising more (want to lose some lbs). I don't drink coffee or caffeine. I did start to drink a lot more water too

Didn't really change much. I started drinking more water and exercising a little more. I am taking prenatals also.

Not much. We just started TTC but in January I started taking a multivitamin, trying to eat more fruits and veggies, and exercising more. However, I also was trying to drop a few pounds. Now that we are TTC I really have to stop biting my nails! It's such an embarrassing and gross habit. Chat Icon

Re: what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

I just started taking a multi-vitamin and I've been going to the gym more frequently. Other than that, I don't plan to change much else unless and until I get a BFP!

Re: what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

I started taking a multi-vitamin and folic acid 3 months before TTC as per my MD's instruction. Once actively trying I switched to prenatals. I also stopped consuming all alcohol when we started TTC unless AF was in town, as that was the only guarantee I wasn't PG.

My diet was ok before, I did however add more fruit, and as a rule my caffeine intake is very very limited.

Re: what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

The only thing I am doing differently is taking the prenatal vitamin..
I am not going to stop my life b/c I am TTCing. If I want to have a drink I am going to have a drink. If I find out I am PG, then obviously I wouldn't drink anymore.
If I was a smoker, then I would quit smoking before TTC, or if I was very overweight I would considering losing weight before, but neither of those apply to me, so I am continuing my life as usual.

Re: what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

We're going to start TTC'ing in July/August. Here's what I've done:

1) I went to my OB/GYN and told her our plan and started taking OTC prenatal vitamins.

2) Went to my primary care physician, dentist and pulmonologist (I have asthma) and had check-ups done and informed them all that we would be TTC'ing this summer.

3) Started exercising and trying to lose a few pounds. Trying to eat a bit healthier, cut out soda, candy, and junk food.

Re: what lifestyle changes did you make while ttc?

I started taking prenatals about 6 months before. Also I started eating a much more well rounded diet. During the 2ww I wouldn't drink much if any alcohol or coffee just in case. I would also exercise less strenuously during that period. But, then again, it happened very fast for us - if I had to do that for six months plus I probably would have just continued my life normally until getting a BFP. Hope this helps and good luck Chat Icon
