Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

I am assuming you use the ready to feed?

No you don't have to refrid unless you open it.

Personally, i warm mine up in the microwave then shake the bottle so there are no hot spots.

I wash bottles in hot soapy water or throw them in the dishwasher. I used my sterilizer once when i opened the package.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

I mix the bottles right before I give them to DD. I don't put them in the fridge since I give them to her right away. I think you can leave it out for an hour before you need to refrigerate them. Sometimes I put the bottles in the dishwasher and sometimes I soak them in very hot water, then wash them with dish soap & bottle brush.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

I do a quick wash of the bottles and then boil them for a few minutes. I do a batch everyday. It becomes routine once you start.

I use the RTF bottles, but the bigger ones now that DS is drinking more. At the hospital they told us that once you open the RTF bottle it should go in the fridge. I just take the chill off then in hot water.

If you are using a bottle and not finishing it then I think it should go in the fridge. I am using the quarts of similac and the bottle says to refrigerate after opening I think.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

if you open the RTF bottle and only use what you need that needs to be put in the fridge. Read the bottle, it will tell you to refridgerate once opened... Also the bottles you fill need to go in the fridge. Formula is milk based, that is why it needs to be refridgerated.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

Are you giving the baby the same bottle with the same formula/BM at the next feeding? If that's the case then you should dump the unused formula/BM and start fresh... baby's saliva will break down the milk left in the bottle. I'm not sure what you meant, so I may have interpreted your question wrong?

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

We use RTF formula. Bottles still in the box stay next to the fridge, but not chilled. Once we open a container, the rest goes in the fridge. We pour a bottle, and give that to DD. After a while, whatever she doesn't finish gets dumped, and the bottle goes in the dishwasher. We have over a dozen bottles, so we don't have to run the dishwasher every day.

Yes, they need to go in the fridge. They're only good for an hour or so left out.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

We had a bottle of the RTF from the hospital and it said after opening to put it in the fridge, so I would assume that if you opened it and made bottles with it that you should put it in the fridge.

I used powder and got this container from BRU where I can make up to 36ozs of formula and keep it in the fridge..

ETA: I use the VentAires and microwave them for 20 seconds without the nipple on and then shake them.

We don't have a dishwasher (yet) so I am washing the bottles and then boiling them and I do that once a day.

Re: bottles have to go in the fridge??

As far as washing goes, I will wash them with hot water and soap and then whenever I run the dishwasher I will throw them in there. I only sterilized them when they just cane out of the box.

Am I the only one that doesn't warm bottles? I prepare them, put them in the fridge and she drinks them just fine cold.

At home, I just microwave the bottle for a few seconds, to take the chill off. When we're traveling, DD gets the bottle at whatever temp it is, being next to the icepack in the carry case. She doesn't care about the temp.
