stainless appliances

looking for some new appliances and thinking about stainless. I've heard mixed reviews though. Lots of fingerprints? Do they get scratched by magnets etc?

Re: stainless appliances

Fingerprints yes...

Magnets...they don't accept magnets.

GE makes a product that looks like stainless steel - Clean something...
It will accept magnets and won't show fingerprints.

Re: stainless appliances

there are stainless steel wipes that make clean up really easy.

LG has titanium that accepts magnets.

One thing you might want to consider - if your appliances are close to one another - you make want to get all the same brand as different manufacturers stainless may vary

Re: stainless appliances

I HATE my stainless appliances. -
They look fabulous after I've spent 1/2 hour cleaning and re cleaning, and getting the streaks off ........and once you attempt to actually LIVE in your kitchen, they're dirty again. -
And I have the brushed stainless which is supposed to not show as much ........yeah right !!

I've tried those SS wipes and they are awful - (leave a strange film and streak)

If anyone has any suggestions on what to clean them with I would be SO SO SO appreciative !!

Re: stainless appliances

Some do hold magnets.

I love how SS looks but I HATE cleaning them and all the marks that show up are a HUGE pain in the azz!

I agree to some extent. I absolutely LOVE my SS appliances and yes they do get fingerprints. Although it's not that bad. I mean my husband and i know to grab the doors by the handles so on average i probably wipe them down to clean them maybe once every week or two.

But i will say i bought those wipes and they're awful. I mean for some reason my dishwasher and those wipes just don't mesh. It's awful. Chat Icon

mine hold magnets (but I dont use them) and they do show fingerprints but it's not that bad. I wipe them down sometimes with just a papertowel / lysol wipes/ ss wipes and it's fine.

I wouldn't trade my ss appliances for anything!

I have the SS wipes and I think they work well.

Do you girls wipe/buff the appliance down with a dry cloth after you use the wipe???

Yes, fingerprints but they don't accept magnets.

I just use windex which seems to be working for mine.

I have Neff appliances and they take magnets. I use something called an E-Cloth which works wonders! Also, good old paper towels and kitchen cleaner makes my stainless steel look as good as new! You do have to clean it more, but I love to get it all lovely and brand new looking!

E-Cloths are fantastic!
