Brookhaven STAR program
Hey ladies,
those of you who live in the township of Brookhaven, when is the STAR tax rebate due? I was told it was sometime in March, does anyone know an exact date? This effects when we go to closing on our townhouse.
Also, where is the Brookhaven townhall located? Do you know their hours of operation? Thanks Kerry

thats the town website
star is due march 1st
i had to call and have the paperwork sent to me, they scanned the wrong docs on so you cant print it out online...
Brookhaven town hall is in Farmingville.

ok, thanks so if our closing is 2/15/07 (which it is scheduled for as of now), I should have enough time to file to get them in by 2/15/07. What did you have to submitt Meg?

Make sure when you sign contracts, Kerry, that the closing date is stipulated as ON OR ABOUT 1/15/07 - this way, you're guaranteed to close on 2/15/07. If you write in your contract 2/15, they have 30 days beyond that to close and you don't want that!
As for what you have to submit with the application - check with the form - it lists everything you need to submit. DH tossed ours off the desk, otherwise I'd tell you specifically. Or check with the Town Clerk. They could help you.

A recorded deed is submitted to the Town once you close on the house. You should also be given a ccopy of it at closing.

I just did this on Monday. We went to town hall at bald hill. We had to bring a copy of our licenses with the new address and a copy of the deed. If you're closing on 2/15 i would try to get to DMV as soon as you can so you have your new license in time.
