AJ's Alpha Projects : B is for Button Butterfly craft
My poor camera hasn't been updating to my computer so I am stuck with cell phone images. sorry
This was SUPER easy!
Cut out a butterfly on blue construction paper. Put the cut out on a piece of paper. I started off putting glue on just ONE section of the wings at a time (broken into fours). That did NOT work. She wanted to put the buttons everywhere! So we put glue all over and let her pick any color, size or combo she wanted and glue to her hearts content.
Didn't take long. Then I immediately picked up the still wet butterfly and put it on the scrapbook blue polka dot paper. Some glue overlapped so it dried there in position.
Came back the next day and put a few black buttons on (she forgot we had some). Let it dry then last night I went back and glued the rest of the butterfly down that wasn't already glued.. most of the wings were loose and some of the body.
And we have a button butterfly on blue

Its tons of fun. I loved watching her be so picky when picking out the buttons.
Michaels had these little containers of buttons for $1 each. I got five! LOL purple, green, red, pink, white and black.
But then I bought two packs of the mulit colored (over by sewing) in the orange color group. She dumped both packs into a bowl, then the green, purple. After that I closed it up and she shook it up to 'mix' them.
She LOVED this. I'm gonna see if I can get some wooden letters and let her use up the rest of the buttons.
I went WAY overboard and went to a small antique store and got a jar of buttons for $8 (which we didn't use). It has old fashioned buttons of all sorts of colors and shapes. May have to make an xmas gift for dad from that.. prehaps the shape of an anchor.
