does this sound right? (long)
I originally posted this on TTC but think it is better suited here.
I had a very long cycle AND didn't use OPKs or temp. I looked back at my iPeriod calendar and tried to piece everything together and figure out an EDD because I know basing things on my LMP is not accurate given my long cycle and symptoms.
CD35 I had what I believe to be large amounts of EWCM, but only for one day. I also BD earlier that day but never saw "leftovers" that clear or stretchy.
CD39 we BD. (the magic time?)
CD41 I had pink spotting and mild cramping. (ovulation?)
CD45 - started drinking red rasp leaf tea
CD48-49 I had a sore throat, stuffy nose, cramping (mild on CD48 and strong on CD49), was emotional, and got a giant pimple. (implantation? 7-8dpo?)
CD52 - BFN (11dpo?)
CD56 I got my BFP. (15dpo?)
Based on the above, I estimate myself to be appx 4w4d today. Does this timeline make sense? Does ovulation spotting occur the day you actually ovulate? is it possible to have EWCM that far in advance?
I had a beta done at 9am on CD57 (16dpo?) and it was 142. Dr's office said this was "low" and told me to come back for a second beta on Monday, but I'm pretty sure they were characterizing it as low by basing it off my LMP. I told them I had a long cycle and thought I was only ~4w and she said that would be normal for 4w.
Thoughts?

Re: does this sound right? (long)
I'm soooo not good at calculating O days and LMP or any of that stuff, BUT.........
When I went to my OB for the blood test confirming my pregnancy, I asked him if the numbers I had were good, and he said point blank "Don't get hung up on the early numbers, what matters is that they keep going up".
So IMO as long as they keep going up for you, you're good to go.
Good Luck and Congrats!

Re: does this sound right? (long)
Yes I think you are probably 4 weeks along.
They always try to calculate based on LMP and really for those with long cycles you will ALWAYS be behind. They assume that everyone has the same length of cycles and that's not accurate for a good amount of women! Myself included! SO I hate that they do that. What they shold do instead is ask how long your typical cycle is and base it off of that instead.
So figure your cycle is 35 days... subtract 14 days and that's about your O day... go back about 2 weeks and use that as your LMP date... even though you technically had your last AF a week earlier than that date. You get a MUCH more accurate measurement.
Does all that make sense?
For example.... LMD is Dec 1. 35 days from there would be Jan 4. Going back 14 days would be Dec 22 (O day)... so you count LMD as Dec 8th... but really it was the 1st.

Re: does this sound right? (long)
Oh and I'm just now noticing your long CD numbers..... Um.. YES you are def earlier on then they are assuming. You have even longer cycles than I do... and I was behind by a week... so your's is probably more.
I think they believe you are weeks, like 3 weeks or so further along than you actually are! That's probably why they are saying your numbers are low... they must think you are like 7 weeks along or something.

your calculation is what I did! I assumed CD41 was O (Nov 29th) and then counted back 13 more days to pretend I O'd on CD14 and had a pretend cycle start date of Nov 16. This is what I entered into the due date calculators and got ~ 8/22/11 EDD (instead of 7/27/11). I'm still happy to be going for a second beta but the nurse really freaked me out yesterday. I think ~4 weeks fits with my timeline of symptoms and also my BFN last friday

Please don't be freaked out by her. All medical personnel does the same thing.. THEY ASSUME WE ALL HAVE THE EXACT SAME CYCLES AND WE ALL OVULATE ON CD 14.
I ovulated on CD 21... so I'm in the same boat as you (but your difference is even more drastic). When doctor's ask me for my LMP, I say... I ovulated on October 10th. I don't give them my LMP date at all when they ask. Because I know better than they do on this apparently! Dr B I trusted to listen and understand... so I said all that but then I said... I ovulated on CD 21 so my LMD would be off by a week... I would go by the LMP date of Sept 27... when it was really Sept 20th. And I measured according to the made up LMP date. He understood.

Re: does this sound right? (long)
the only thing is, I didnt use OPKs or temp so I dont *actually* know when I O'd, I am basing it on my symptoms listed above. Does it look like that's when I would have O'd? I'd be afraid to say something so conclusive if it's not certain...

How long are your normal cycles?
Also, this might be too personal... but did you only that one time this month?? Or were there other times too? If you only did it that one time... or jsut a few times in a small cluster of time... it's easier to pinpoint.
Honestly.. if anything I would just tell them all the stuff you wrote here. Say you aren't 100% when you ovulated since you didn't use OPK's but you do watch for your fertile CM and you believe you ovulated around (insert date)... and you took the test on what would have been CD (insert day number).
ALSO don't forget... you took a test on 11 DPO (CD 52) and had a BFN so you KNOW you implanted (or had enough hcg in your system) between that day and the day you got your BFP (CD56)!! That's HUGE and DEF something to tell them!!! It lets them see just how much earlier on in the pregnancy you are!!

Re: does this sound right? (long)
In November we BD CD 19, 24, 35, 39, and then also CD 46, 53 in Dec ..
This was my first cycle off the pill. My cycles had always been really irregular before the pill and once I skipped the entire summer without AF.
I also got BFN on: CD 24, 27, 28, 32, 34, 37, 42, 46, 49, 52 (before getting BFP on CD 56) lol

holy moly you sure took a lot of tests! haha! But that works as a good thing in this case. Because now you can pinpoint around where the hcg would have been starting to rise. Since you don't know O date... i would most definitly convey and stress this information.. the testing part.
You got a BFP on CD 59 and a BFN on CD52....
What CD would you be today???
We can so figure this out this way. At least an approx...
You can get a BFP anywhere from about 11DPO (sometimes earlier but it's faint and rare) and on... so I would consider CD56 to be 11DPO to 15DPO..... count that backwards...to 0 for O day... then go 14 days prior to that and plug that in to see an approx due date to see how far along you are.

Today would be CD59.
I bought a bulk pack of the cheapy test strips (25 for $6, free shipping) and had a few dollar store tests as well so I tested whenever. Never tested with FRER or those fancy tests (bought a pack of digitals after BFP on the dipstick tests). I tested a lot when I had symptoms but only tested every 3-4 days or so for the past 2 weeks to make sure I wasn't pregnant biding my time until my appt Jan 5 where I expected my dr would be giving me provera. Tested CD56 because it was my office holiday party and it was open bar so I wanted to drink guilt free. By that point I assumed it was anovulatory cycle so I was shocked to get a BFP.

Re: does this sound right? (long)
you are fine!!
I'm POSITIVE you are only 4 weeks along. that's DEF the case... esp since you only got a BFP 3 days ago and 4 days prior had a BFN..... you are in your 4th week. No question about it. that beta number is good for the 4th week.
My first beta was 62, then 164, then 1357.. that was all in the 4th week... the 1357 was boarderline 4th/5th week.
