Yet another Potty training question
We havent done anything formal with DS in terms of potty training yet. He will be 3 next month. He goes on the potty a couple of times a day but he is still wearing diapers. Will tell us when he has to go, wakes up dry most days etc. He will ONLY do pee, has never done poop on the potty before. So my question is, he is probably ready right? Should we just stop diapers cold turkey? I should add he has a lot of constipation problems, so he adamantly will not poop on the potty. Should I force him to sit when I know he has to poop? Thanks for any suggestions!

Yet another Potty training question
We are doing the 3 day potty training now, and DD is only 25 months, so it is probably harder with an older kid. DD is usually regular, but wouldn't go on the potty yesterday and she resisted today. I gave her lots of high fiber foods and made her have to go. She said her tummy hurt and I told her it was because she needed to poop and she would feel better when she did. I sat with her and held her hand and rubbed her back and she went. It broke my heart, but she has to learn. So I suggest some high fiber foods and some prune juice! Take the diapers away - he will eventually go. GL.

This is exactly what we did. I fed him fiber foods for two weeks- he was OK to go after 3 days or so. He was 23 months old. Now at 3 he still sometimes cries and says that his belly hurts, but we just rub his back and wait- sometimes 15-20 minutes and make a big deal after he goes!

Re: Yet another Potty training question
DD also has constipation issues. I try to stay on top of it with pears and white grape juice but pooping can cause her some anxiety. I did not force her to sit. I waited until she was ready to try. She would know she had to go. She'd ask to go and sit and then say no. Sometimes this would happen 10x and thn She would poop in her pull-up. After a few weeks I just went to under wear. She had a few accidents and sometimes it would take a few tries to actually go but now about a month later she is fully trained and it only takes one try.
