X-Post: Moms who gave birth at South Nassau

I am in the process of packing my hospital bag and in an effort to not bring unnecessary items I was just wondering what the hospital supplied for you in terms of BFing supplies (lotion, pads etc) and what other items they gave to you before you left (diapers, gauze, alcohol pads, wipes, formula etc).

TIA

I didn't BF so no answers there. I can say I didn't get much at all - either time I delivered. The 2nd time I did get a bit of formula (but it was an apology from the nurse because I complained to her about some treatment I received from someone earlier). I think I got some pads for the circumcision care. Other than the similac/enfamil bags, I didn't come home with much at all.

I just had DD there five weeks ago. They gave me sample packets of Lansinoh but that was it in terms of breastfeeding supplies (I didn't ask for nursing pads as I had my own, so I'm not sure if they have these). They were actually pretty stingy with putting extra diapers in the cart and I think there might have been one little bottle of formula in there the entire time. They gave us a bag when we left with maybe four little 2 oz. bottles of formula. As for wipes, I would actually suggest you bring some because all they have are these "cloths" that feel like dryer sheets that you have to wet yourself. Not very convenient.

I'll also mention that the towels were laughably small, like hand towel size, you you might consider bringing a bath towel with you.

Other than these few nitpicky things, I had a really great experience there. It's really a beautiful maternity ward.
