Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

what time do you leave for work in the morning?
leave for daycare/work at 6:30AM

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? - I wake up at 5:45 AM, shower, hair, dressed, let dog out (just open the door, he's good), wake up Mason and get him dressed and ready

what time do you get home from work?
get home anywhere between 4:30 PM and 5PM

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
I feel rushed at that moment... usually throw him in the exersaucer for a few and I hate it. Take the dog out (if I get home b4 DH), then throw the daycare bottles in the dishwasher, change my clothes sometimes and then play with Mason

DH and I share chores. I vacuum and he does laundry. Sometimes I take Mason upstairs and vacuum a little after I get home (try to do this a few times a week). He loves it and follows me. I do some dusting and then we go downstairs and I feed him. He is entertained when I clean. I play with him from 5:45PM to 7PM and then DH gives him a bath or I do. If DH does I straighten things up and then when bath is done I do the night routine. DH usually does any laundry then and then it's TV time for him. I get done with bedtime routine at 7:15 - 7:30 then usually run on treadmill then we figure an easy dinner (leftovers, order in or something easy).
I try to do a big cleaning on Sundays so the rest of the week is just a once over. I'm also a clean freak. LOL!
Wipe down the toys he played with etc
DH makes the bottles for daycare at night so everything is together in the mornings

ETA... DH leaves after me and USUALLY makes the bed. If not I do when I get home, but he's usually good

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

please answer the following:

what time do you leave for work in the morning? We leave at 7:30am

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? I wake up at 6:30, go to the bathroom and brush my teeth, let the dog out, let the cats out from basement, make baby's bottle, get baby up, change her diaper, feed her, get myself dressed, put together anything for my ILs house, put baby in car seat, let dog back in, leave.

what time do you get home from work? Approx 7pm depending on traffic

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep? Make dinner for DH and I, entertain 2.5yo, give 2.5yo a snack, give 2.5yo a bath, put on her pjs, read her a story, put her to bed, then I clean up a little (do dishes, tidy up), jump in the shower, maybe read a little and get stuff ready for the next day.

I never make my bed (sometimes DH will throw the covers over sometimes not)

We do laundry and big chores on the weekend. Dh is pretty good about helping out with everything.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

Here's my morning schedule:
5:45: wake up, pump before DD wakes up, package up milk
6:15: DD wakes up, change/dress her, feed her, get myself ready, play with her
6:45: put my lunch together, get her diaper bag ready
7:00: load the car, then take her to daycare

My evening schedule:
6:15: Pick up DD from daycare
6:45: Get home, empty out her diaper bag (used bottles, clothes, etc), get dinner ready
Then we usually eat. DH does dishes while I bathe DD and get her ready for bed. Then, he plays with her while I shower. Then she eats and goes to sleep (between 9-10), Then I usually go to sleep.

There is no way I have time for daily chores or laundry, NO WAY!! Chat Icon

I leave for work at 645 if mil is watching dd. She comes to my house. or 630 if I take her to the babysitter.

From the time I wake up I shower and get dressed then if dd isn't awake and she's going to the babysitter I wake her and then dh usually feeds her so i can finish getting ready.

I don't do anything inbetween.

I come home anywhere from 415-530 and by that point I'm exhausted. If I decide to cook I'll cook, otherwise just give dd a bath, feed her food then a bottle and get her ready for bed. That's our routine.
IF I am going to do anything around the house during the week its at night after she goes to bed or while she's hanging out with dh.

I'm exhausted when I get home. the last thing I want to do is chores around the house.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

i'll answer my own post!

1. i leave the house every morning around 9:45am.
2. i wake up when dd wakes up at 6:30. i bring her into bed with me, bf her and we all fall back asleep. we wake up again at 8/8:30, i feed her breakfast, change diaper, wash the dishes, get my self ready, get dd cleaned up
3.i get home from work on average 7:30pm. sometimes 8pm.
4. when i walk in the door i bf dd, work on dinner, if its a bath night, bathe dd, try to play/read, bf dd to sleep around 9:30. lately dd has been going to bed around 10/1030.. Chat Icon Chat Icon this drives me crazy! i think its much too late for a baby. 9:30 is an ideal time for us...
anyhow once she goes to bed i watch some tv with dh and we go to bed at 11/1130.

not sure when i can squeeze any "chores" in there when i get home!!

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

Here's my morning schedule (pretty tight to the times):

5:00 alarm goes off
5:00 - 5:25 BF one side, change diaper, BF other side, put baby in swing
5:30-6:10 Shower, blow dry hair, put on makeup, get dressed
6:10-6:30 Pack lunch, pack pump & parts, eat breakfast
6:30-6:35/6:40 Brush teeth, say bye and out the door

The time I get home from work varies... it can be as early as 3:00 or as late as 4:30 depending on the day and IEPs or meetings.

Let's say I get home at 3:30 which is average....

3:30 - BF
4:00 - 5:30/6 playtime with baby (will also include bath every other day)
5:30/6 start dinner
6:30/7 - 7/7:30ish - eat dinner
around 7 or 7:30 depending - BF again
8:00 - get me & baby ready for bed
8:30 - in bed, watching TV, maybe another BF session right before bed

I just started exercising, so 30 minutes will be exercise - time will vary depending on all of those above things (that have varied times)

I don't make the bed.

Laundry is only done on Saturdays in 2 loads (darks, lights). I start in the AM before I get in the shower and fold when hot from dryer (helps with wrinkles which = less ironing!)

Steve washes his own workout clothes separately.

DH and my nephew clean up everything from dinner (I wash anything I use for actual cooking as I go along or while food is in oven/on stove... they clean off table, wash all dinner plates, serving dishes, cups, etc).

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

what time do you leave for work in the morning? 9:15'ish.

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? i take a shower, wake up Emma, change her and leave.

what time do you get home from work? 5:15'ish.

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?

1. depending on when she ate lunch, when I get in, i'll make dinner for Em.

2. pending number 1, i then spend my 'quality' time with Em. we play & read. i might try to wash bottles if she's happily playing alone RIGHT when we get home...and then i'll do quality time.

3. dave is home at 9:00 & we eat our own dinner (take out or i make at some point).

4. we watch tv, play with Em and once she's asleep, i may wash the bottles i never got to or just relax on the computer for a short while.

during the week honey - chores are a JOKE... if dave EVER commented to me about them, i'd kick him in the nards.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

please answer the following:

what time do you leave for work in the morning? sometime between 9 and 9:30 am

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? depends...something like 2-3 hours. this morning I was up at 6:15 and was out the door at 9:30.

this morning I did the following...I wake up and have snuggle time with Luce (he is my alarm clock lol..) so I change him, nurse him, and play with him for a bit...this is usually about a half an hour.

I put coffee on and then threw it in the freezer (for iced coffee). I steamed blueberries and sweet potato for a few meals and diced up some cantelope for his lunch today. I made Luce's breakfast (blueberry and banana with cereal) and fed him.

I got dh's breakfast ready (and easy day...cereal) and made him an iced coffee to go.

I ate breakfast and took a shower. cleamed up the kitchen a little bit. made the bed and got Luce's clothes ready.

got dressed, nursed Luce again and put him to sleep.

got his formula and bm ready for his bottles today.

packed my pumping bag and get my ish ready for work. made and iced coffee, took out chicken from the freezer for tonights dinner...out the door for work.

what time do you get home from work?
tonight I will be home by 7

I will get home, put groceries (going to whole foods at lunch) away as well as the pumped milk.

snuggle Luce up for a few minutes and get dinner started.

cook dinner, set table, eat. Luce eats dinner with us.

after dinner, clean off the table and get luce into his pjs. play for a few minutes, nurse him and put him to sleep (about a half an hour)

get dessert ready and hang with my husband while we eat it and watch the French Open and I fold the laundry I did over the weekend.

I also want to dust in the living room and sweep my bedroom floor but not sure I will have the time.

I try to be in bed by 10:30-11:00.

I do not leave the house in the morning without making my bed. I can't. I can leave other stuff a hot mess but the bed has to be made.

I always tell my husband if there is something that needs to be done, DO IT. don't simply complain that it's not done. pitch in and help.

it should be obvious that we are not sitting on our tuffets eating bon bons in the morning....a little help will go a long way.

unless something specific needs to be washed, all laundy gets washed on the weekend. I usually can fold but was too busy this weekend.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I leave for work at 6:20am and get home at 6:20pm. On Fridays, I work from home from 9-5.

I throw laundry in during the mornings that DS wakes up early or on my work from home day. It takes me a few days usually to put it away.

I clean here and there when I have the time (which is few and far between because most of the time that I am home with DS, DH isn't there so I'm either tending to him, playing with him or exhausted).

DH makes similar comments to me about not doing anything (he cleans in the mornings when he's home with DS and I'm at work - but, DS is always better in the mornings).

what time do you leave for work in the morning? 6:25 to catch a 6:34 local train; I commute almost 2 hrs each way.

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? 3days a week Imup at 5 b/c DS goes to daycare those days. Get myself ready; DS is usually up by 5:30 when im done, get him changed, dressed and fed and ready for daycare. We usually have time to play. DH is up by 5:40. So im usually the one running around getting stuff together. 2days a week my mom is at our house so im up at 5:40 those days and out by 6:25.

what time do you get home from work? 6:10pm
what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep? Make dinner, clean up, check some email, maybe work on orders or stuff (i have a home based business); get DS bathed if its bath day (i bathe him every other day). Maybe do a load of laundry that DH will fold and put away. Play with DS, get him ready for bed..last bottle, lights off and he's usually asleep by 8-8:30; DH and I are usually up in bed by 10;

NOT MUCH TIME TO DO ANYTHING!!

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

what time do you leave for work in the morning? 7:45am

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? wake up at 6am, shower, get dressed, hair, makup, dress DS, make him breakfast, prepare his lunch and drinks, pack my breakfast, prepare my coffee

what time do you get home from work?
generally by 6pm

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep? DH usually starts dinner, I straighten up, help finish dinner, play with DS, eat dinner, straighten things out some more, bath time, put ds to sleep, surf the web, some nights I do work, watch tv, got to sleep (the surf web/work/tv thing I do at the same time)

I usually don't make my bed until I get home from work (if at all) --- I don't have time in the morning and I convinved myself not to stress about it. We do laundry mostly on the weekends and fold after DS goes to sleep or while he's watching TV (he watches one episode of something before bed). We have a cleaning lady come every other Friday. And everything else gets done in between. DH and I just divide and conquer. Some days (like today) my house is a complete mess. And other days it is tolerable. It's never spotless. I've just come to terms with it.

am i not managing my time properly?? I'm sure you're doing a great job...balancing all of it is very difficult!!!

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? get ready for work :)

what time do you get home from work?3:30
what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
Come home hang out for a while and play.
Usually go to the park.
I try to vacuum every day.
Figure out what is for dinner, possibly hit food store.
Try to do ATLEAST one thing a day, be it change the sheets, clean the kitchen, bathroom, load of laundry. Some days more, some days less.
But reality is I can only get done what Julia allows. Some days she is happy to play by herself for a little bit other days she is not having it.
husband comes home at 7pm.
all of us eat dinner around 7:30
afterwards, we all hang out on the couch until its bedtime for Julia.
I'm in bed between 10-11.

am i not managing my time properly??

I think it's really hard to get everything done once you have a kid.
I'm home by 3:30 and still feel like I dont get enough done in the house and something is always a mess.
I used to clean my entire house in 2 hours. Now 2 hours gets me nowhere with a baby.
I also dont want to spend all my free time cleaning. I want to spend it with Julia. So when I could be cleaning, you might find me walking around the block pushing her in her car Chat Icon

probably not poor time management, just not enough hours in the day Chat Icon

Make the bed 5 minutes before he gets home. that's what a mom I babysat for used to do.

Try to get one thing done a day, then it doesn't pile up for the weekend.

what time do you leave for work in the morning?
6:45-7AM (I drop off Ann at daycare on my way to work)

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?
Shower, let the dog out, feed the dog, wake up Ann, change her, give her a bottle in her crib, pack her bag for daycare, give her a few cheerios in the high chair while I finish getting ready

what time do you get home from work?
6PM
what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
Go to the bathroom, change into comfy clothes, change Ann's diaper, feed her, try to feed myself, put her in PJ's, give final bottle, put her to sleep, wash bottles, etc from daycare, prep bottles & food for next day, check email/LIF, watch TV in bed, lights/TV out around 10PM.

Stick giving Ann a bath into the evening routine when she needs one.

I will occassionally do a load of laundry during the week but the loads that are most important to me (my stuff for work and Ann's clothes) get done on the weekend.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I just came back to work last week after maternity leave but so far here's my schedule:

6 am ish - wake up, get myself washed and dressed, check email
6:30 ish - 3 month old gets up, play with her for a while
6:45 am ish - 3 year old is up
7 am - nanny comes and she usually takes the 3 month old so i can feed 3 year old breakfast
7:20 - get 3 year old dressed so she's ready to be picked up for school by friend
7:40 - I leave for work

Home at 6:45. 3 month old is bathed by my nanny and sometimes DH will bathe 3 year old if he gets home early enough.
We might eat something REALLY quick but baby usually wants to be fed by 7 pm and put to sleep.

If she eats at 7 pm, I will feed her and put her to sleep at 8 pm.
After that I will read 3 year old books and put her to sleep. By 8:40 pm, both kids are asleep.

If we didn't get to eat, we'll eat or if we did, I'll shower, clean up the kitchen and check my email. Usually in bed by 9:30 or 10 pm to watch tv for a bit then sleep!

what time do you leave for work in the morning? 8:45
what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? nothing, DH is out of the house with DS at 7:30. I get up at 7:15 get DS dressed for my moms or daycare and DH leaves. I spend half an hour having coffee, reading the paper, watching TV, on the computer, whatever.....then I get in the shower and get ready for work.

what time do you get home from work?5:15 (5:30 if its Tues or Fri and I pick DS up from daycare)

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep? On Mon, Weds, Thurs, DH picks up DS from my moms on his way home since he passes through...that gives me about 45 minutes between when I get home and he does with DS. I go running for 1/2 an hour and hop in the shower. DH cooks dinner when he gets home and I play with DS while dinner is cooking. Then we all eat. After dinner, Ill do the dishes and walk around straightening up. One night a week, I do a full cleaning. Ill put DS in the bath at about 8pm and then he is in bed by 8:30. If I still need to clean more, than I do, if not, I relax.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

what time do you leave for work in the morning?
8:20AM or so - have been catching train closer to 9AM

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

6AM/6:30AM - get up and pump; wash pump stuff; maybe do a load of laundry or empty dishwasher; sit and have my coffee; get dressed
7/7:30AM boys wake up - change them, dress them, settle Ryan in with a morning show and go up and BF Colin and do same with him, this morning I bathed him too

Drop off at daycare around 8:30 - if I'm lucky

we eat when I get home. DH cooks and has dinner ready for when I get home. after we eat, I bring Colin up for bedtime - nurse him, PJs, bed.

Then I go down and hang with Ryan for a few minutes before I do a few books with him and bring him up for bed (DH gets him in PJs while I am taking care of Colin's routine).

Both boys in bed by 8:30PM/8:40

Then I do the chores - clean up from dinner if DH didn't already, clean my pump supplies, bag milk, make up bottles, get my stuff and the kids stuff in order for the next day, shower and relax with DH for a bit.

Some nights (rarely) I go to the gym after the boys go to bed. This is usually just for a half hour.

Usually in bed by 10:30/11PM.

ETS: I don't usually do much laundry during the week. DH takes care of what he can on his days off, or I'll do a few loads over the weekend. Same for cleaning. We do what we can on our days off - no one goes crazy.
I have someone clean my house thoroughly once a month.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

What time do you leave for work in the morning?

8-815 am.

What do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

I get up at 645-7 (unless DH has off and I can get in a run before work, then I get up at 615-630).

7-8 - shower/get dressed, eat breakfast, make lunch for me, get stuff together for work

8- DD gets up, snuggle with her for a few minutes, change her, hand her to the nanny for her bottle, and out the door

what time do you get home from work?
6-630 PM

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?

say hi to DD, change out of work clothes, feed/play with DD
730ish eat dinner (DH and I split cooking depending on what we are in the mood for)
one of us cleans up while the other gives DD a bath

830-9 bedtime routine for DD (book, bottle)

9-930 watch TV/hang with DH, usually we are in bed by 930-10.

I will occasionally do a load of laundry during the week but 95% of the laundry gets done on the weekend. I only do my laundry though, DH does his, and the nanny does DDs.

Food shopping gets done on the weekends, unless one of us needs to stop and pick up something special.

DH feeds the dogs morning and night, and they don't need to be walked because they have a doggie door to the yard.

The nanny mops the floors, and we have housekeepers every other week that do major cleaning. Dusting, straightening up, etc I do pretty much whenever I have a moment.

Bed does not get made pretty much ever, unless DH throws the covers over.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I am up at 5ish, we leave the house at 7:30 ish.

In the morning, I shower get ready, get the kids ready, do breakfast for all (DH helps). I sit with DD and feed the baby a bottle, drink my tea while she eats.

Before the kids get up, I'll unload the dishwasher if needed.

I make all beds in the morning-unless DH remembers to make ours.

I obviously do nothing around the house from 7:30-5ish since we are not home.

When we get home, we get changed (I put my yoga pants on usually so that I am ready to exercise later). We get DD a snack and feed Owen another bottle. Empty Diaper bag and prep bottles for the next day.

I get dinner going with DS in his bouncer chair sitting in the kitchen with me.

Sometimes DD likes to "help" me, other times she and DH play. If DH is traveling for work, DD helps or watches a show.

We sit down for dinner and it's over in 15-20 minutes. I clean up, then we all play until bath time. If it is nice out, we go for a walk.

After bath, DD is allowed to watch a show and we have a snack/dessert.

After that-bed time.

Then, I do a workout DVD, shower and DH & I watch a show, have tea and fold laundry or play scrabble until he turns into a pumpkin. Then I tidy up, have another tea and chill in the quiet until I go up to bed between 10-11.

I do regular housecleaning on weekends when the kids nap or DH takes them out. Although, DD likes to help me dust and vacuum so sometimes we do that together.
