At the end of the day this vaccine is being fast tracked and two companies are competing for the first go to market date. Theres data and evidence that supports people rightfully questioning this vaccine.
Cuomo himself has said the same thing. He said it was about money for these pharma companies. As much as I dislike him. he also said that Trump is trying to fast track it sooner before he leaves office to get the accolades. I 100% agree with that as well and that is why he wants to wait before distributing it to NY. And I agree with him. Shocking, you can agree and disagree with the same people. This was me listening to his interview on the radio yesterday.
One thing I didn’t like is that he’s trying to push this to the black and brown communities first because of how bad we were effected. It sounded like they are going to use us as Guinea pigs. Deal with the real issue of why Covid effected these communities. Over population, lack of health care, terrible hospitals, lack of treatment, terrible and crowded living conditions. Don’t scare them into getting this vaccine. That part was frustrating for me.
The science, data and testing timeline does not give me confidence in lining up to take this vaccine. I wait for software/hardware to be released a few times before getting it but I’m going to line up & get this vaccine first. This day in age where we won’t even buy a sweater until reading thousands of reviews or vetted by a human. Nah.. I’m good. I have several friends in the medical field, highly educated and respected. Front line in the busiest hospitals during this pandemic. They are a no for the vaccine or on the fence.
I’m very pro Vax, get the flu shot every year and recently got my son the HPV shot. So I don’t want to hear any silly anti vax rhetoric.

I agree with you 100%. My husband wants to be one of the first on line. I said no way. The kids and I will wait until it is tested and researched more and I also am pro Vax.

I agree with you 100%. My husband wants to be one of the first on line. I said no way. The kids and I will wait until it is tested and researched more and I also am pro Vax.
Same. By the time I'm old enough to be considered high risk, it will have been out long enough for me to feel comfortable getting it. I'll wait.
I also don't feel the risk of Covid to a child is anywhere near enough for me to be rushing to give it to my daughter.
She got her flu shot yesterday. That's been out long enough for me to be comfortable giving it to her.
She also gets every single recommended vaccine on schedule.

These posts are ridiculous. Based on the current data, I don't know any doctor or scientist who isn't counting down the days until they can get the vaccine for themselves and their children.
You don't want to get the vaccine, fine. Get COVID. But don't dissuade others from getting it based on your own misguided opinions.
This is not a "do your own research" situation. This is a "speak to the experts" situation. If anyone truly wants more information, call your GP when the vaccine becomes available and THEN make your decision.

I also know -plenty- of drs and nurses who will not get this vaccine. And the “you don't want to get the vaccine, fine. Get COVID”...wtf is that about?? What are u really implying?? I can already see this rethoric happening, just like with any other vaccine. Not wanting to get the vaccine will be make to be as if someone doesn’t care about others when in reality it’s a very complex issue. Please stop making judgments like this (general u) and respect people’s decisions even if u don’t agree with them. It’s something so simple and yet so hard for some ppl.

Perhaps some are, but I don't know any who are aren't all for it. I also don't know EVERY doctor, obviously.
Maybe I came off unnecessarily harsh in my post. I'm just genuinely curious why people are so against a vaccine that is showing promise in multiple trials. A vaccine that isn't even available yet, and won't be for several months. I get being unsure and I know lots are afraid because it's new but there's such a "no way" sentiment to it. I just don't understand, when so many experts in the field (who have no financial stake in this), are pleased with the data and see promise, that anyone would be so adamantly opposed.

Not sure why Trump is even mentioned when talking about the vaccine. It wasn't developed because of him, it was developed despite him. Anyone in office would've pushed it through, though most any other president wouldn't have let us get into such a bad position in the first place.
not "despite" him, regardless of him. He never did anything to hold up a vaccine or prevent it from being developed.

The least they can do is be the first round of recipients of a new vaccine that is not yet proven to not have long term side effects. Then, to the extent that they need a certain % of the population of the population to take it most of us should be willing to do so, for the greater good. I think children should of course be exempt.

Just to clarify, no one getting a post market vaccine is a guinea pig. The vaccine has already been tested. That was quite literally the point of the trials.

People seem to think that once the vaccine is widely available, life goes back to February. I don't believe that is the case. Travel, live theater, no masks, concerts...those things are not on the horizon. My bet is 2022 for a pre pandemic life, certainly not 2021. The vaccine will get to to a pre pandemic life, but it is going to be awhile.
