I don't know who paid for what. My mom prepared the mailing labels for the invitations and ordered the food. It was also held at my parents' house.

my mom and MIL split it. my bm's helped with some of the work but all of them were broke and in no position to host one.

My mother planned and paid for my shower. My MOH helped out with some of the planning and offered herself to get the favors. (My mom still insisted on paying for them, but my MOH wouldn't let her.)
I may get flamed for this, but I really do not think it's the bridesmaids' place to pay for the shower. I could see if the bride had no family or if the bride's family just couldn't afford to do ANY type of party... but otherwise, I really think the shower is something the MOB or other family throws for you, not your bridesmaids.
I've been a bridesmaid 5 times now and only once was I actually asked to pay something toward the shower. In that case, we did the centerpieces, decorations, and favors. I would NEVER have expected my BMs to contribute to the cost of the shower.

My mom paid for the entire shower. None of bridesmaids were expected. I have been part of where I have had to chip in for the shower and really had no idea until the day of shower. Thank goodness I brought my checkbook!!!
Wow and now reading everyone's posts it looks like majority has been the MOB... I had to pay $140 for one!!! lol.

My bridal party planned and paid for it. It has been this way for every wedding I've been in also. In my case my MIL helped with some stuff and paid for a few things too b/c she wanted to

I was only in one bridal party where we had to pay for the shower, and her family lived out- of -state AND the shower was in that state.
I think its a little much to expect Bridesmaids to pay for a shower, it is expensive enough to be in someone's wedding .

My parents paid for the majority of mine, but I think the BMs chipped in for the centerpieces, favors and invitations.

I'm not 100% on the split but I know my mom and my BP paid for it. I know that my dad would have put financial constraints on my mom, so I know she didn't pay for the whole thing. I'm not even sure she paid for half but I do know that she planned it with my MOH.
I've been in 4 weddings and 2 I helped pay for/plan and the other 2 the MOB took care of the whole thing.

My MOH and BMs paid for my shower, and I believe my MIL kicked some money in as well as paid for the cake. I think they were asked to put in %4150 each. I know a few of them didn't contribute the full amount- but that's a whole other story. I have been in BP where the MOB paid, and ones that I've paid for. I just helped through one and we were all asked to contribute $230, which I thought was a bit much, but we all kicked it in.

My Mother paid for mine too. I know my MOH wanted to contribute but my Mother wouldn't let her so she bought the cake.
