where can I cash in change without a fee?
I have an account at Astoria Federal but they don't do it. I really want to get the cash to just deposit in the kids' accounts and don't want a gift card unless I have to.
I always used to roll the change but I have no time for that anymore...any banks still do this free? If they don't, who does gift cards? Thanks!!

I *think* TD Bank does it. We haven't cashed in our coins in a while, but I'm pretty sure that's where we used to go. When DH gets in, I'll ask him.

My DH and I went to TD Bank and we cashed it in and we didn't have an account with them. I would check just to make sure.

Re: where can I cash in change without a fee?
not sure if this might be what you're looking for...
coinstar will count your coins for free if you buy a gift card. they have gift cards to these vendors:
ACME Albertsons® Amazon MP3® Amazon.com Athleta Banana Republic® Chili's CVS Farm Fresh® Gap Hornbacher's® iTunes® JCPenney® Jewel-Osco® Kroger® Lands' End Lowe's Lucky® Maggiano's Old Navy® Overstock.com® Papa John's Piperlime® Regal Entertainment Group Restaurant.com® Rixty Shaw's® Shop 'n Save® Shoppers® Starbucks® Stop & Shop® Toys R Us®
so if you're planning to spend the money in one of these places, it might be worth looking into

TD Bank and Bethpage Federal (if you have accounts there).
I think everywhere else charges a fee.

Re: where can I cash in change without a fee?
TD charges 6% to non members Coinstar is close to 10% unless you take a giftcard. I know this bc I just did it over the weekend. Good luck.

TD charges 6% to non members .
This...we don't have an Acct. with them and we just cashed $200 worth of coins and they took 6%.

Re: where can I cash in change without a fee?
TD Bank has the penny arcade...just dump the change in, it sorts it and prints out a receipt that you turn in for cash at the teller. I dont recall though if they charge a fee for non account holders.
also, check your local supermarkets for coin star machines. I know there is a fee with that, but i think its a small %age of what you put in there.

Re: where can I cash in change without a fee?
I have used the coin counter at TD bank numerous times and they never asked me if I have an account. I use the Penny counter and bring it to the counter and they give me cash. I know that the Nassau County Police deparment credit union also have the counters but I am not sure if you need an account.
