When you're typing...
one space after a period or two?
I read an article recently (are you seeing this, Gatsbygirl?  ) and evidently, I've been WRONG all these years!
What do you consider correct?

The correct way is ONE space after the period, as I just recently found out as well. I've been working to break the two-space habit...so far, so good!

I think a long time ago it used to be 2 spaces so that is what I used to do. Now I do only one.

When I learned typing I learned that it was 2 spaces...I only do this when composing business letters or writing a paper though.

I've always done 2. That's how I learned. I know at work, the word processors change all my reports to have only 1 space, so that must be the new correct way

apparently the one space was the original way to do it. it was when typewriters came along that it was changed to two - to accommodate the typeset spacing. and now that typewriters are a thing of the past, it's kind of moot to still be double spacing.

I can't think of what I actually do, because I type so quickly and automatically, so I have to type this response and see what happens. I remember learning to make two spaces in typing class, but it seems like I only make one now. I wonder when that happened?

I always thought it was two spaces. That's what they taught me in a business writing class in college so I've been doing it that way ever since.

One. I'm surprised at how many people put 2 spaces. I never heard that before. Well, except when I used to write essays for school that were to be a certain number of pages... then I would put 2 spaces
