When did your baby start eating stage baby food?

I know you start them on cereal ar 4 months. Can we start them on stage 1 baby food then as well? DS stares at us when we eat. I think he wants to join us soon.

We tried around 4 and 1/2 months, way too soon for my son. He didnt get the concept of moving the tongue inwards till closer to 5 and 1/2 months I think maybe even a bit later then that....

For me my girls starting eating fruit at 4 months, vegetables at 5 months, and meat at 6 months.

By 7 months they were on stage 2 foods.

My DS was on Stage ones about 4.5 months and was on Stage 2's by about 6 months old (as per my ped)

My DD is 4 months and we have not starting on food yet. My ped says 6 months to start.

DS didn't 'get' what eating was about until 6 months, and I think we started oatmeal around 4.5 months old and he finally understood other stage foods around 6 months.

Since its not recommend to start before 6 months I didn't feel rushed. In fact we skipped baby food all together and went straight to soft table foods. My oldest DD was 7 months old and my youngest DD was 8 months old(my youngest had a problem with even eating breastmilk or formula off a spoon and then one day at 8 months old she was magically ready for table foods).

I actually recently heard this is called baby led feeding. At the time when I took this approach I had never heard of someone else doing it. I just did what felt natural to me. I of course talked it over with my DD's Ped who ok'd waiting for solids and ok'd starting with table foods.


also I never spoon fed my babies food. I would give them a few bits off the spoon so they would get the idea, then I would hand the spoon over and let them take over (I started this young at around 8-9 months old).

Ped told us we could start with cereal at 4 months. We are going to wait until 4 1/2 months. By about 5 to 6 months following the doctors schedule he should be on cereal, stage 1 fruit and veggies.

Since I'm EBFing, my pediatrician recommends waiting until 6 months. DS will be 6 months old next week and we're starting cereal tonight! I want to start before his 6 month appointment in case I have any questions.

we started cereal right before Kaydyn was 4 months. She did great with it so prob about 2 weeks later we tried stage 1 foods.

At our 6 month ped appt they said we could start stage 2 foods.
