What time to start 1st bday party??

I am thinking about DD's 1st bday party that I would like to have on Friday, December 30th (I am wayyy early, I knowChat Icon ) and trying to figure out times.... is 4:00pm too late to start a party for a 1 year old???

It's a Friday, so I don't want to start too early bc I know people have to work, but it's also around the holidays and right before new years, so people take time off and get off early, etc. Oh, and there will be a few children, but mostly adults at the party. It will be about 4 hours long.

Thanks for any advice Chat Icon

I personally think it's too late for a 1year old...BUT too early for you to expect people to be off work.

Also keep in mind that your DD's schedule will probably be very different then than it is now. We are having my DS's party at 1:00 b/c that is in between his naps. If we had it at 4, he would sleep through it! Sounds like a tough dilemma...good luck with whatever you decide! Chat Icon

we had DS's party from 1-5pm. even tho his nap was 2-3. he still napped for an hour at his party. i was just at a 1st birthday party from 11am-2pm and i had to leave DS at home cause he naps from 12-2.

I think it depends on your child and how many little ones you are inviting to the party. if your baby really is the only one and doesn't have an early bedtime I think 4 would be fine, but if you are planning many other kids it might be more diffucult.
You should really feel around your close friends and family and see what they think since they are the one's going.

PS We had a friend you had a little kid party at 6:30 ( I think it was 2nd bday)
