What items did you get or buy that you never used?

Tristan is outgrowing nearly everything at the moment and as I was going through his stuff the other day, I realized that there is quite a lot of items that I received as gifts or bought that I haven't even used. Some were just because of the type of baby I had and I couldn't have anticipated that I wouldn't need them. Thought it might be helpful for the PG ladies if we listed them here (I'll post a link from the pregnancy board).

For me, it was:

Swaddlers
pacifiers & therefore pacifier holders
bottles (never kept up with it because BFing worked out for us)
miracle sheets (although I know time will tell! but for the moment he doesn't spit up much at all)
hats
scratch mittens
A LOT of clothes that were the wrong season

For me it was the boppy covers. I have four total and only use two, one for each boppy. The million receiving blankets, the mittens (they never stayed on, I used one that was great and just kept washing it, I also got shoulder pads pillows (you put it on your shoulder and DC can rest on something soft) and the covers that go with them. Most of the stuff I did use though.

i returned a LOT of things as recently as last week. BuyBuyBaby has a great return policy - as long as they carry the item, you can return for store credit for full price.

The boppy playmat, bumbo, full sized highchair, mittens, clothes, etc. All returned.

I love BBB.

I will NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING EVER AGAIN in BRU. They wouldn't even take back gifts that were given with a gift receipt. The person bought the item when I was 20wks pg and found out it was a boy, but didn't give it to me until the birth, so it was past their 90 day mark.

Gerber onesies are the worst
Bottle sets are a waste because DC might be picky

Is this true?

bottle warmer- dd likes her bottles room temp

wipe warmer

you really dont need that much clothes, dd pretty much wore the same few outfits over and over

boppy- just didnt have much use for it

i was given a million hooded towels and washcloths, i have most of them still in the package

we got a bunch of different pacifiers and dd only took the one they gave us in the hospital

and gerber onesies are the worst, they run too small

miracle sheet. I never used it. I still have it in its packaging.
fisher price bath tub I should have gotten the euro primo bath tub which I have for DD.

I too think the gerber onesies run really small. I prefer the carter's onesies.

Boppy
bottles (BFing has been really smooth, so we haven't really used them)
receiving blankets (too many)
burp cloths aka cloth diapers (way too many)

scratching mittens. I never even opened the package.

bumbo seat. He sat in it a handful of times and then started arching his back to flip out of it.

Eta: the car protecter and sheet protector. The mattress is plastic anyway and he hasn't leaked much at all.. Knock on wood.. I will probably have a disaster tonight just for saying that!

The Baby Carrier (DS was too heavy by two months old)
Swaddlers
Playtex drop in bottles (I registered for avent but my mother decided that i really neede dto use those and bought me a ton, but they didnt go with my pump)
the big puffy snow suit (got 4 and hated them)
All the diapers in the diaper cake that someone had delivered to our house (there were wrapped in celophane and it would take me a good 10 minutes to get it out and i gave up)
alot of clothes(ds was in 12 month clothes by 3 months old)

Tons of clothes. Handmade stuff too. Same for blankets. It's sad that people have made me stuff I will probably never use.

I rarely used the boppy.

I rarely use my glider. It has turned into a clothes hanger in the corner of my bedroom. (I am thinking these items may be geared more to moms that breast feed which I didn't).

My sister got me these cloths that are supposed to cover their belly when they come home from the hospital so it doesn't get irritated. Never opened them.

I also got a ton of those little rattle toys that you can hook onto the stroller or carseat that I never opened.

I only used those mitten things like once or twice.

The mirror for the backseat of the car.

Lots of toys and hanging things for the bedroom.

I also haven't used the soother or whatever it's called that hangs in the crib that plays music.

My uncle also made DS a cradle that I rarely used because it made me uncomfortable because he was always banging his head into it when he was first born.

ETA: I never used the sling either. The one I got I didn't like how it fit.

Bumbo - his legs were too fat for it when he was able to hold his head up enough to sit in it.

Robeez - I just put him in socks. he kicked his feet into his diaper when he was little. I would have to take off the shoes, change him and then put them back on. Wasn't worth it to me.

Baby Bjorn - he HATED it

scratch mittens - he got them off as a newborn in about 5 seconds.

Sleep gowns - someone told me she swore by them, but I found them to be a PITA to change him when he wore them.

All the stuff my aunt bought that was similar to what I registered for, but not exactly, but were bought at the store where I registered.

For the record, I also think Gerber onesies are the worst.

swaddle blankets (I liked using regular receiving blankets better)

boppy - didnt have a need for it. Although, I did not BF and I know some mommies like this if they do.

scatch mittens - only used them a couple of times

bottle/wipe warmers

and I agree w/ the others...Gerber onesies stink! (they run soo small and shrink right up)

Side snap shirts... For some reason I have TONS of these in newborn size and they fit DS for about 2 seconds.

Wipe Warmer (returned it)!

Boppy (DS never liked laying in it)

Bjorn Carrier

Tons of scented Johnson's baby products - DS has eczema and anything scented irritates his skin

Bumbo

* Boppy Pillow
* Baby Bjorn type carrier - I HATED it!!!!
* Full size Pack n Play - wish I just got a smaller travel one - we never use the fancy one we have
* Full size swing
* Pacifiers - DD is a thumb sucker
* Pacifier holders and cleaner
* Swaddlers - DD HATED to be swaddled
* Bottle Sterilizer
* Bottle Drying Rack - regular $2 drainboard worked SO much better
* Bottle Warmer - Melts Playtex Drop Ins bottles
* Toy Sterilizer - used it 2X
* Bumbo type seat
* Complete bedding set - what a waste of $$. All we used was the dust ruffle and sheets
* Lots of cutesy, fancy NB and 0-3 months clothes - too much effort to dress DD up when most of the time she was home all day

Things I Couldn't Live Without
* Cloth diapers (burp cloths) - a ton of them!
* Lots and lots of bibs
* Playtex Drop Ins bottles - LOVE them!
* Exersaucer
* Travel System - I really love mine and it worked out great for us!
* Posh Pouch and Bundle Me for winter months
* A ton of "feetie" PJ's - it's pretty much all my DD wore the first few weeks
* Halo Sleep Sacks
* My Carter's Diaper Bag - so roomy and lots of pockets
* Boudreauxs Butt Paste and Triple Paste
* No scratch mittens
* "Finding Nemo" DVD - DD LOVED it from the time she was 4 months old
* Tiny Love Mobile
* Fisher Price Newborn to Toddler Rocker

Wipes warmer was a big waste for us. I returned it. I EBF so the boppy was essential. I swaddled in a regular blanket, so the swaddleme was useless and too small by the time she started kicking out of the blanket and waking herself up. She hated swings after she was 8-10 weeks old (and at nearly 2 screams bloody murder at the sight of one at the park). Bored in 5 minutes in an exersaucer.

i can honestly say, that with the exception of a few random clothing items that still have tags..i have used EVERYTHING..the ONLY thing i didnt use for dd was my hotsling, i used it 5 or 6 times, she wasnt into it..but i will use it early on for ds..
i think i knew early on what to buy though cause i had a much older ds and btdt
