Yes. The one I am at now...we have people who work here for 30, 40 years...never left because they love it, great atmosphere and the benefits are amazing. I FM'd you about it but you thought it was too far...I promise you, I know people who commute there from Queens and it takes them 1 hr door to door!

Arent you in NJ ? I am too and am totally looking for a new job ! Are there any openings in your company for Admins ? Do you mind letting me know as I am trying to get a list together of good companies around here that I can start sending resumes too.

I used to work for a company in Jamaica, Queens in a group home for adults with MI/DD. I absolutely loved it and would love to work there forever. Unfortunately, the pay was only in the low 20's per year. 
If you are stressed out about $$$$, then it starts to make the job not seem so great IMO.

I haven't worked for too man companies but the one I'm with is the best so far... at least 5 years ago when I started! Now it's become more strict, stressful and not as fun! I'm no at a company we acquired and boy... they're pretty disorganized.

The best company I've ever been with is the one I'm at now -- Small Luxury Hotels of the World! (Though technically my employer is the management company for the SLH brand.) I'm happy with my pay and benefits but its my job responsibilities and some of the people I work with (and the person I work for) that make me truly love it.

The best company worked for was Barnes and Nobles corporate office on LI. I loved everyone there and alot of people were there for years and years. The pay was excellent, perks, benefits and you can advance. But unfortunately I had to move due to DH's job offer to FL where the work sucks right now. If I didn't move I would have been there for 6 years.

I can say all the companies I have worked for have their issues. I have always worked for small to mid sized companies though. My sister works for TIAA-CREF and i guess they are pretty good

Best company I ever worked for was AIG (insurance company in lower Manhattan). Good benefits, good salary, loved all of my bosses and most people I worked with, and when I resigned, they offered me more money...no other company I ever worked for did that...so, they get a thumbs up from me!

one of my old companies, GreenPoint Bank - I worked in the executive dept, had the best boss and it was just such a great place (tons of perks and extras and great people to work with)
unfortunately most of that dept was laid off when NorthFork took over

Honestly, its where I am now - which you know where that is - even though I've been po'd about stuff lately, its so much better than my last really disfunctional workplace, so maybe that's why it seems good?

ditto, i will never work in the private sector. . .plus, you are picked first for other gov't jobs too. My friend just left for the secret service and loves it!
i make my own schedule, get an insane amount of sick and vacation leave, great benefits etc.

I agree. I work for a university hospital now, (which is MUCH better than corporate america) but I don't think much can beat working for the feds in terms of benefits / pay.

Great question
All federal jobs are listed on USAJOBS. You can modify your search by location.
BTW, I'm another VERY happy federal employee.

I really enjoy working for Kaplan. Part time on and off for 5 years, full time now for a year and a half.
The pay's ok, benefits are really good. What i like about it is, most people are really young and intelligent and fun and talented, and I feel that for the most part employees are really valued for their talents, etc. And Kaplan really likes to promote from within and they are very good about giving opportunities for advancement. Within a year I was a manager, and hopefully  next year I will be a Senior Manager or Associate Director.
