my FIL did this all the time... we actually just bought his house from him, so now we'll do it too all i know is that the house is twice as big as our first house, and we're paying the same, or slightly less taxes.
i think he would just go in with a list of why it should be reduced. certain things like " well, this bedroom ( in the basement) doesn't have heat in it, so you can't count it as a bedroom" and i forget what else. basically he just bugged them until they said " ok, fine! what do you want to pay?" LOL just so he would leave....

Kathleen, there are companies that do this for a living. A few girls gave them great reviews, too. I think Mark Lewis Griveance comes to mind, but you could run a search. A lot of girls do this in the spring as the STAR applications are due.
