What do you do if you don't have enough $$ for ALL your bills?
seriously....I'm worried we won't have enough for ALL our bills...
we cut corners EVERYWHERE.

Pay as much as you can to each bill. Its better to pay a little then none and get late fees, etc.

Find ways to cut, alternate. Most bills, like utility bills, etc, won't charge a alte fee if they're less than a certain mount late. so you can get away with paying them late. it catches up to you though!

I would, smoetime they can put you a different kind of payment plan. It wouldnt hurt to try.

Yeah i think that's a good idea! A lot of times they really will work with you and it helps to let them know you're trying, not just being a deadbeat or something

Another alternative is to pick your least bill and pay that off first while STILL sending the min payments for your other bills. This way you will see some progress.
Also def. check out some kind of debt counseling - they will notify the creditors and let them know.
Just make sure to keep paying, even if it's the minimum.
Don't flame for this, I don't mean any disrespect but if there were $ issues why did you get a big screen tv? Maybe you and DH need some type of $$ counseling and learn to live in your budgets.

well...we don't have bills that have minimum payments....they are all utlities. WE have no credit cards.

It's SO not a regular thing...SERIOUSLY. It's the damn pay cut. We might be fine, we might jsut be short a tiny bit. This certainly has not been building up!!
WE live within our means, but in GA, we pay a tax on our b-days for our cars. The newer the car, the more $$ it is. So between the 2, it's over $200 which would normally go towards other bills.

Are there any balanced billing plans for your electric and heat? I know it might not make a difference where you live since you don't have the crazy seasons like we do, but it might be worth a try. Also, call up all of your companies and see if you can lower you bill. I cut my mom's phone bill in half by switching plans and by not driving the car as much FH is going to get a 30% insurance discount!

Call up the utlity company and explain to them that you are having financial difficulty.. oftentimes, they will make a note of it on your acct., put you on a budget or extend your due date to accommodate you. =)

If it's a one time thing I wouldnt worry about it. If there's a bill or two you can;t pay give them a call, explain the situation and see if you can pay half and the rest later. I know some places like the phone company if you cant pay this bill, they'll amortize it so you'll pay $5 more a month for the rest of the year and skip this payment for example.

our power company does have a budget bill, but you have to be in residence for 1 year. DARN!
I applied for a $20 credit where they install a switch on the outside of our home and during peak hours, it makes the AC turn off sooner than it would normally, so it runs for 20 min instead of 40 I guess.
Works for me....but I didn't realize, they charge differently on kilowatts depending on what time of day!!

Actually, LIPA on LI charges more during 9-5 hours. Overnight hours are the cheapest.

but maybe working for now and having benefits would help out till you can stay at home. just my own opinion. i would feel more at ease doing this and knowing we could pay our bills every month plus save.
