What do you do for a 6 year old with a cough- worse at night?
I feel horrible that DS coughs especially at night when he is sick. What do you do to help stop the coughing?

Cold mist humidifier
Keep the room colder than normal
Vicks cough suppressant rub

Prop up the pillows more so he's sitting up.
Humidifier
Vicks
decaf tea with honey
Children's cough meds (Zarbees is usually good). Give him the night one
If it continues you should take him to the Ped. There's a lot going around.
HAve him drink a lot of water too. Especially before bed to help break it up.
No milk. That makes it worse
I also give elderberry syrup to my kids every morning with breakfast

Sometimes benadryl helps because it dries up the drip that is causing the cough.

I used that cocoa cough syrup thing.
Honestly, a cough is a good thing. It gets the junk out of your lungs, so I try to minimize on the meds for normal things.

Yes. Meant to add allergy meds to the list bc when my son gets a cough he has bad allergies and best thing to do is allergy meds bc it's a post nasal drip.
We use Xyzal

we use a humidifier and either Robitussin nighttime or dimetapp nighttime

Does he need a nebulizer? My children both have cold/allergy induced asthma and often need a nebulizer before bed when sick.

We use a humidifier and Delsym - my pedi recommended it for my 6 year old.

What do you do for a 6 year old with a cough- worse at night?
Benadryl , boernicke and Tafel homeopathic cough syrup,
Cough with congestion cough syrup , nebulizers if you are on it
Keeping head up.
Please note - not for a very young child - mine are 5 and 8
And also not everything together . We switch it around depending on what we think might work better..
And thanks to everyone taking sambucol every day has been keeping the sickness down
