I never know what to get my mom either and have gotten all different things over the years, some she used, others, not so much.
Money is tight for her and last year, I got her something "practical" and she loved it - I got her a gift card to her hair salon and she was so thankful. I knew it was going to be used and I knew it saved her money. Thinking of doing the same this year - not so exciting, but I know it was appreciated.
