Re: Weekly Menu - 10/24

I can't even contemplate what to make. I'm just .. *ugh* today.

I will tell you that 2 weeks ago I made awesome chicken souvlaki, homemade tzaziki and greek salad with lemon rice pilaf and toasted Pita points. My son just told me last night that he needs to have Greek food again because it was so good! Chat Icon I say try it!! Plus.. it was easy. Took me all of 40 minutes.. most of that time just waiting for the rice to cook!

I know I'll make pumpkin soup.. probably friday.. probably with a beef ragout.. maybe? Saturday will be hard because I have to make something that looks gross and sounds spooky. Good times.

Ragout is really just an obnoxious way of saying STEW. Chat Icon

I use ragout to differentiate for my husband whether I am making my mom's american stew - or a French style stew where I don't use a lot of veg (ragout).

I don't have my own pumpkin soup recipe yet. I'm still vetting out different ones to find something I really like enough to tweak and make my own. Last recipe used was from a friend - it was a curried pumpkin soup that I didn't love. I'll be doing this one on Friday:Epicurious

I'll tell you how it comes out!

I totally agree about the pasta as a main.. but I traditionally do a 'ghoulish' main course for the kids. I guess I could do 'bloody worms' and disembodied 'sausage fingers' again.. but I was trying to come up with something more creative. *sigh*
