Was your DH there when you announced BFP to family?

I'll be seeing my family this weekend, without DH. I have no idea how I'll keep it in. Part of me felt I should have DH with me...but I know it's gonna be harder to have an opportunity and time's gonna fly by.

So...was he with you? Do you feel it's totally necessary for him to be there? I refuse to do it on the phone, at least. I just feel crazy keeping it in from my mom and siblings!

We were together when we told our families.

ETA: But we also didn't share the news with our parents until we were 9 weeks, so we had seen them a couple of time before then and didn't spill the beans.

Yes, my DH was there when we announced to each family. I wanted him there when I told my family, just like I wanted to be there when he told his.

Ask him how he feels about it, he might really want to be there.

I told my mom when the two of us went out to lunch. I wasn't planning on telling her then, but the topic of when we were planning on TTC came up and my hormones got the best of me. I told my father and brother later that day. DH was in my parents' house, but wasn't in the room when I told them. We told DH's family together. DH didn't care whether I told my family while he was there or not. Would that bother your DH if you told your parents without him?

Yeah b/c HE was the one who opened his big mouth - I wanted to wait for awhile .............

We told his Mom & sister together too, but his Brother and Father he told while he was out golfing one day ..........

The rest of the family - I don't really think it matters that much to me. I honestly wish I could just send a mass email to tell everyone b/c I HATE being the center of attention !!

When we told my dad and dh's parents we were together. when we told my mom He was sleeping, so I told her myself!

No. My Dh couldn't keep his mouth shut! After we found out, he ended up telling his brothers & sisters over the phone as part of their conversation when they randomly called after we found out. So I ended up telling my family when I went to my parents house to hang out...... They were all still very excited even though we did n't make a big formal announcement.

For my folks we were together. We asked them to brunch and told them over brunch. His folks live in Colorado and he told them himself. I actually had no idea he would tell them so soon. We got the BFP on a Thurs night, and at 10am Friday (the next day!) he called me at work and said he had told his entire family already! We told my parents that Sunday.

I had to tell my parents on the phone, since they are far away...but if they were nearby, I would want him to be there.

DH wasn't even with my when I got the news from my RE that I was pregnant. I was actually at work when I called and got the news.......so my co-workers knew I was pregnant before my family or DH. My parents were the second to know, then DH.

Yes. DH was with me both times we announced it.

we were together to tell everyone - except for when i told my sister. i called him up begging to let me tell her b/c i couldnt hide it anymore.

With DS, yes. With this one, no.

we were together to announce to his family and to announce to my family,

i couldnt imagine him not being there to announce the biggest news in our life..it was our news to announce, not just mine.
plus we did a whole thing where we made my family think they were watching our wedding video but it ended up being a video with a few wedding pics followed by picture of our sonogram.. it came out great!

good luck with your decision though!!
one way or another it might end up just coming out b.c you may not be able to hold it in!!

I told my mom as soon as I got my BFP, I just couldn't wait, but we wanted to wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone else. The only problem was our families live over an hour apart, in addition to us each having a sibling living in the Carolinas. There were also no excuse holidays to get everyone together around that 12 weeks mark.

I was stressing about figuring a way to be fair and tell both families at the same time, so no one could be upset or feel slighted. We decided to make a slideshow (it's in my profile) and email that to everyone. That way everyone was told exactly the same way, at the same time etc.

So neither of us was actaully there when we told our families

Yup. DH and I were together when we told my family and his family. I was happy that we waited to be together to share the news. It was really special and both families were so excited!!
