virtual party entertainment company UPDATE

my friend has asked my help in coordinating a virtual party. she has already chosen the company and asked me to help choose the games/themes etc

does anyone have experience with this? are there any questions i should ask, or potential issues i should be aware of before i jump in?
tia

Update: it was a blast! they had nearly 80 computers logged in, many had multiple family members and kids on screen so 100 actually people give or take. The kids really got into it!!

Everyone loved this company and want to book them for more parties! Super job, very professional, great dj, fun games, great music. She paid $2000. Well worth it.

Re: virtual party entertainment company

My husband’s company did this this year instead of their Christmas party. There was a lot of issues with streaming since so many people were on it it kept cutting out for some people and they had to get back on. And apparently you needed headphones or there was a bad echo.

My company has done this with many people but you do have to check with them to see how many can be on at one time. They have to do something to allow more than 100 if I am not positive.

Depends on the platform they are using and how many licenses they have.
Is this a company/work party? Are they using Cisco Webex or another platform?

Oh a company is running this for them? If so they will handle the platform and the number of users allowed etc
You won't have to worry about that- just give them the headcount

This sounds nice. When it's done, can you provide info on the company and what you did, as well as general pricing? My sister's 50th birthday is in March and I don't think we'll be able to have an in-person party then. This might be a nice option.

i was checking them out and some of the things they do look pretty cool. might end up using something like this for an end-of-fiscal-year event.

I'm glad it was a fun time! Was everyone in the same "room" -- all in the same screen? Or, did people go in different breakout rooms? Was there much interaction among the guests, or was the DJ leading everything and people were generally on mute?

everyone was in the same room, you had to scroll the screen to see everyone. there were 4 screens full of people so you couldn't see everyone all at once but if you scrolled around you'd see them. No breakout rooms. Most of the interaction between guests is in the chat. DJ leads, and everyone was muted (thankfully, i can't picture it if that's not how it worked!), dj would unmute certain people depending on their chat answers or dance moves they were making.

you have to answer trivia questions etc very quickly in the chat. i'd say the older crowd had difficulty with this so keep that in mind. even I had difficulty typing quickly, but the alcohol may have slowed me downChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for the update!

I was thinking of something like this for my sister's birthday, but we wouldn't be a lot of people. And, I'd want people to talk to each other, not just participate in games with the DJ. So, I don't think it would work for what I would want.

But, it sounds like you had a good time! It's good to have another way for people to celebrate during this pandemic.Chat Icon

i'm looking at it for a work event... so having the third party controlling things and muting people is perfect for what i'm thinking about.
