Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

In Pre-K I sent in cupcakes and individual Valentines bags filled with treats. This is not allowed in the K classroom.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to put in to put in little Valentines bags? I don't want to buy a bunch of junky things from those bins at Party City. That stuff just winds up in the trash.

I would appreciate some inspiration. Chat Icon
Thanks for any suggestions you may provide.

We made these last year, turned out super cute. I bought a large lot of the bracelets on ebay very inexpensively. (not my pic, but same thing)

You mean they don't allow any candy?

I used to do the cheap cards that they sell everywhere and you attach a lollipop. If not a lollipop you can attach a pencil.

The kids love goody bags but honestly a lot of the items end up being junk (or too much candy) and I feel it's a waste of money. That's why I stuck to the cards. Plus my kids would fill out the cards themselves and stick the lollipops in so I didn't have to do much! LOL

LAst year a mom in DC's class molded heart shaped crayons (one for each kid)/ I've seen the idea on pinterest and it was really cute in real life!

Pinterest has so many great ideas. I have a whole board dedicated to it! Lol! You could do pencils, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, kisses. I don't know if I will pack to much candy since everyone in my family gives DS and DD so much chocolate on Valentine's Day. I assume other kids get just as much candy too.

Honestly, the little bags filled with junk get thrown out by us. I think a card and a lollipop or pencil is just fine. Its the only two things that wouldnt get thrown out by us. I always thought this was cute, but my kids are too big now to do it:

I'm either going to give glow sticks with tags something like this or Rainbow Loom bracelets:

Re: Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

I did black card stock & wrote in silver "you are out of this world"
And cut a circle to fit a swirly bouncy ball. Very cute.

This year I'm doing a fruit snack pack with "wishing you a Berry Happy Valentine's Day"

I've also seen:
"glad we're in the same school" with fishies snack pack
"Have a Beary Happy Valentines Day" or "bear hugs to you" With Teddy grahams

Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

We bought small pirate booty and gold fish valentines bags. I also got valentine tattoos and a pencil. Wrap it in a bag and good to go.

I did this for my son last year. It was fun! But, peeling the crayons was really tough.

Re: Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

you guys kill me...I swear, I'm giving traditional v-day cards.

I'm seeing what so many parents do and as a full time working Mom...I'm scared!!!

I will say my son in Pre-K gets so many of these little things and about half we use.

Sorry to be a debbie downer about this...but man...it gets insane.

They have the bags of Cupcake and Flavor Blasted Cheddar at Target.

I took an idea from Pinterest - it's a little fishbowl and it says I'm so glad you're in my school and put it in a clear plastic bag with a bag of Valentines goldfish.

Why is it insane? If you want to do just cards, just do cards. No one said you have to do anything extra. The kids like it all the same.

I never understood why people try to bash the creative parents. I'm not saying just you. But I see these little blurbs online all the time, and it's just silly.

EXACTLY!! And it puts us none-creative parents in extremely uncomfortable positions...Like its turns into a one-up contest.

Kudos to those who do it, but I don't like the extra pressure its puts out there. It becomes a contest among the moms for other moms to say how cool the ideas are.

As a full-time working Mom with a husband who works nights, I can't do it. And for UPK only about 6 out of the 17 parents kids go "nuts" aka into the creative "above & beyond" stuff...whether its Christmas, Halloween, and now I guess Thanksgiving.

Sorry, its a soar thing with me. Like I said, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer with this, I do think its insane whats its become though.

And when I was a kid creative moms did exist and they didn't do as much as is done now...I do believe its become a bit of "keeping up with the jones" supplied by Pintrest.

Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

Eh, my son is 15 and I've been doing creative stuff since he was little. I think it's just easier for most now since you can log onto pinterest like you said and get ideas. I don't think it's a competition at all. I personally enjoy doing creative things. If little Susie's mom sends in valentine cards purchased from the store, who cares? I don't belittle her for doing that.

Valentine's Day Bags Ideas?

The valentine goldfish were from Target.

I am not creative at all and I love it when DD gets the little things some parents make. The kids like everything the same so whether it's a loom bracelet or a boxed valentine the kids don't care. It's the parents that make it an issue.

For DD's winter party one parent make a 3d snowman cake. It was awesome. I brought in oreos lol. Loved that she did it and she didn't shame me into the "store bought" corner. Do what you can and don't worry about.

I totally agree! In my situation, DD loves crafts (so do I) so although I understand that others may feel pressured, there are many parents who just do it because they enjoy it. The crafts we make is because DD absolutely loves it, not because I am trying to one up any mom. That just seems silly.

If everyone else is passing out Valentine's and he has none to pass out, don't you think that makes him feel a little sad? I would buy a box, and the have him sign them at aftercare or the babysitter's house
