Re: Vaccine Schedule

I have an appointment next week but I plan on following Dr. Sears alternative schedule also. Not doing Hep B at birth b/c DH and I tested negative.
We have chosen to use alternative schedule not b/c of autism fears but more b/c I think too many shots at one time are not good. It makes it impossible to tell which shot caused a reaction. Also because it gives most important vaccines first and the one least likely to effect an infant later on in life. I read his book and agree with his thoughts on this subject.

No Idea, I got this typed out from some one else, so I didnt have to type it out of the book. I will have to look at it again.....

Here is another Alternative schedule

This schedule is based on Dr. Stephanie Cave's What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations .

Here is her schedule:

Hep B
Delay until the year before starting school, although we may consider starting the series as early as two and half if we are considering preschool at the time.

Hib
4 mo, 6 mo, 8 mo, 17 mo

IPV (Polio)
4 mo, 6 mo, 8 mo, 17 mo (booster at 4 years)

DtaP
5 mo, 7 mo, 9 mo, 15 or 18 mo (booster at 4 years)

Pneumococcal (PREVNAR) one dose at age 2

Varicela (Varivax)
Age four, if at all

MMR
Mumps – 15 mo
Rubella – 27 mo
Measles – 39 mo
Booster – age 5

Re: Vaccine Schedule

Keep in mind you can not get the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) split out anymore....you have to do the combo shot.

Re: Vaccine Schedule

Why Dr Sears believes in an alternative schedule

from His web Site;
Is it worth the trouble to spread a baby's vaccines out over more visits so less shots are given at a time?
Thursday, August 23, 2007

The main difference in my suggested alternative vaccine schedule is it spreads the infant vaccines out over the first few years of life, instead of bunching them all up in the first 18 months. It gives fewer vaccines at a time, gives the most important vaccines first, and slightly delays the less important vaccines. But ultimately the end result is the same - a fully vaccinated child. What are the benefits of my alternative schedule compared to the standard one?

* By only giving two vaccines at a time (instead of as many as 6), I decrease the chance of chemical overload from grouping so many vaccines chemicals all together at once. This allows a baby's body to better detoxify the chemicals one or two at a time.
* I give only 1 aluminum-containing vaccine at a time (instead of the recommended 4). Overloading on this metal can be particularly toxic to the brain (See Resources, page ___ of The Vaccine Book to view the research on this).
* I give only one live-virus vaccine component at a time to allow the body's immune system to better handle the live viruses in these vaccines.
* Giving fewer shots at a time may decrease the side effects, in my experience.
* Giving fewer shots at a time also makes it easier to figure out which vaccine a child is reacting to if a severe reaction occurs.

Sure, vaccinating this way means more visits to the doctor's office, more gas money, more insurance co-pays and more time off work to take your baby in. BUT, some parents may decide it's worth the extra time, money and trouble.

* I have a VERY opinionated family. and I feel like I have to be prepared to defend every decision I make with them, so I have this stuff all book marked Chat Icon
