That is ridiculous that the only thing they think an illness is (or a cough as your child), is covid and that you HAVE to be tested for that. How long do they intend to do this? They don't make you test for flu or pneumonia or strep, etc etc. It really needs to just end and treat this like every other virus.
I don't think it's the only thing they think it is but they want to rule it out since the symptoms are pretty broad.
I would've kept him home today regardless - and it's not as big of a deal now that we can test at home (although it was weird).

If you say any symptom that could be associated with covid, schools and work want you to test. I am sorry but it is ridiculous 2 years later. If you choose to test, then I say that is fine. To make people only test for this one illness after 2 years is just ridiculous and needs to be stopped.
Just like you did, keep your child home.

I know a lot of her friend's mom have said they just tell the school the kid needed a mental health day or if it's a girl that she has period cramps lol

I just got his clear to return info from the school nurse but he can't go back until symptoms have resolved or haven't worsened and he doesn't have a cough. Coughs can linger for awhile so I guess he's home for longer now than he would've been if he had Covid lol?

That is stupid and I am glad I don’t have younger kids in school and if I did, you bet I would be going to board meetings to have this lifted.

I’m positive I will be getting a call for every sniffle. These new guidelines are worse than the masks, IMO. At least the masks hid sniffles!
