UPDATED - Spk with Dr ....Grello Pediatrics Patients - Swine Flu related (anyone come in that can help me with questions)
I called today and the receptionist said they are not recommending the vaccination. I am waiting on a Dr to call me back to get some details
My questions are:
- Why arent the recommending it?
- Does the reg flu vaccine protect her at all from swine flu?
- What about me? We are going to TTC in November so that would put me in the high risk group, I also have an autoimmune disorder
Is there anything else I should ask
UPDATE -
so she said its not that they aren't recommending it. Its more like their drug rep doesnt think it will be available. They follow the AAP guidelines and they haven't said anything about it yet b/c its not even available yet. So, when the time comes, if it is available, then they will do whatever the AAP recommends.
She said the most important things to do is
-wash hands
-rest if you dont feel good
- keep hydrated
- monitor fevers

Wow, D, I am shocked they aren't rec it. My peds office is I believe...
I am curious to know why also.

i was surprised too b/c they are very strict about following the AAP's immunization schedule.
They have been around forever so I really do trust them. I will post once I speak to the Dr.

The only reason I could see them not recommending the vaccination is since it is so new. It has not been able to be tested and don't know what the side effects could be from it.

Honestly I wouldn't give it to DD and not planning on getting one myself ,or DH.
