TV mounted on the wall? What do u do with cable box and dvd player?
I want to mount our tv on the wall but not sure what to do with the cable box and the dvd player? Where do I put those? Buy wall shelves? and how do you hide the wires? ANyone?

In our Family Room we mounted our TV to the wall and ran the wires behind the wall. We made a hole behind the TV to put the wires in and a hole at the bottom of the wall behind the console. Now there are no wires. Our cable box and DVD player are in the console. DH drilled holes in the back of the console. I love how neat it looks.
Or you could buy covers to hide the wires. I forget what they are called, but you can buy them at Home Depor or Lowes. They would be mounted to the wall and I believe you can paint them the same color as the wall so it blends in. GL!

Ours are now in a closet and we use an infrared sensor to change the channels.

please keep in mind, you need an outlet behind the tv as it cant be run in a wall "legally"

we had ours installed professionally where they put an outlet behind the tv and the cable box is in our basement (our kitchen tv). we have an 'eye' that is on the tv that is connected to the box in the basement. it looks really neat not having the box on a shelf in the kitchen.

same but Dh put an outlet behind the TV and ran the wires for and put our cable box in the basement

Yup... against fire code. If your house catches fire and an insurance adjuster sees power wires ran through the wall, they can void your home warranty.
That would really suck if you are trying to make a homeowners claim and they deny you.

We have a small entertainment center under where the TV is mounted. The cable box, DVD, stereo, game system etc are in there. Dh made a cover to hide the wires that come down from the TV - we painted it the same color as the wall to blend it in.

We got a TV stand and put the box and DVD player there. The only thing is that we didn't want to drill holes in the wall to hide the wires, so we put wire covers on it, not really sure what you call them, they are long black hose/tube like covers you put over the wires. We bought them when we baby proofed the apt. I'll post if I remember the name.
