Town of Oyster Bay Community Pools - Yay or Nay?

The 2 near me look nice. DH has a connotation of WT attached to them....Do you belong? Are they nice? is it worth the membership ($175 for a family)? TIA!

I don't belong because I have a pool but I loved going as a kid. Pay for the day and see if you like it.

We've belonged to the Syosset-Woodbury pool for several years now. We spend just about every day of the summer there! my kids love it, I've met so many nice moms, and its definitely not WT at this pool Chat Icon FM if you have any specific questions, and I'll help you out!

ETA: We definitely get our money's worth - for the 3 of us (DD is only 2 and still is free, i.e., doesn't need a pass yet). We sometimes go in the morning, and then again at night after DH gets home for an hour or two (it's open until 9).

I would definately get membership to one of the community pools...

The one you are talking about is the Plainview pool... I go there at least once a week since many of my friends belong, they just give me a guest pass and I pay them the $3 dollars to get in...

It is a great kiddie pool--It is fenced in and I have met so many young moms there with their kids.. If I go now, I know at least someone there now...

I also go to the Syosset pool too.. There pool is very nice as well as the park next to it..

It is so worth it..I would definately look into it...

No, it's just east of Rt. 135, on Jericho Tpke, opposite the Fox Hollow.

DH and I went to the Plainview pool and it was quiet..looked clean, but there were some families down by the kiddie section. We were hoping there would be more people to meet-if anyone is going, let us know! It was a bit lonely for us, but other than that, looked nice...I've heard good things about the Syosset pool as well.

I live right near the pool and love it, we just moved here last year so I didn't buy the pass just pay a daily fee. The kiddie pool is nice and you can bring toys for the kids to play with. The only thing I don't like is that you have to leave the pool and go downstairs to get something to eat.

I go to the Plainview pool often. I used to go to the Bethpage pool but since they are rebuilding the ice rink, it's been closed.

I really like the Plainview pool. I go on weekends and during the week if I get home early enough I go swim laps..it's empty at 7:30pm and I can swim undisturbed.

Very clean and organized. I didn't buy a pass but I pay $6 each time I go. If it's late they let me in for free.

That's a good price for a family membership - it's $280 for the family membership at our town pool.

I grew up going to the town pool every day in the summer. Took swimming lessons, swam on the swim team, had crushes on the lifeguards.

Now I take DD there and have gotten to meet a lot of really nice people at the kiddie pool.

I used to go to the Syosset - Woodbury town pool as a kid & teen. Very far from WT.

I think it's great for kids and families.
