Toddler & cough
Is there anything that can be given to remedy a cough? My DS, almost 16 months, has had a cough for about a week now, but in the past few days it has been keeping him up at night and it's hard for him to nap too. I put the humidifier in his room, tried Vicks rub, last night I read on Google that you can try giving 1/2 tsp of honey before bed, but that didn't make a difference. I'm not sure that the dr can do anything about it if I bring him in. Anyone btdt have advice? Tia!

I give Zarbees cough syrup. It's all natural and tastes like honey. It seems to help whenever DD has a cough.

I give a full tsp of Little Remedies Honey Elixir. a half would do nothing I 'd imagine. Never given her less than a full tsp. Its not medicated so you can give as needed. Lots of water and we take her tylenol to reduce the 'irratation' caused by the cough and benedryl to dry up any post nasal drip (even without sniffles it can be there).

Re: Toddler & cough
I have found that raw honey works a lot better than regular store honey (it still retains its antiviral/antibacterial properties compared to processed honey). Did you try putting vicks on his feet and covering with socks? Vapor bath or keeping in a steamy bathroom? I also eliminate refined sugars (suppresses the immune system).
Hope your lo feels better soon!

I don't give my son traditional cough medicine but would give him raw honey but came across this recipe and it works like a charm
1/4 cup raw honey 3 tbs lemon juice 2 tbs cocunut oil.
I give my son anywhere from 2 to 3 tbs for his cough. It works immediately.

I actually got mine from Stop and Shop but it was the last one they had. Whole Foods and Trader Joes will probably be your best bet.

Just wanted to say this recipe is awesome! My dd came down with a bad cough yesterday. I gave her this mixture two times and her cough is soo much better! FYI, I used Eco bees farm raw honey and carrington farms unrefined coconut oil.

I do this, vicks on their feet. Baby rub on their chests, a wall plug and a humidifier. I have also propped up their mattresses.
