Tipping (wedding related)

I don't feel like going back to LIW and asking since I got married four years ago and don't know anyone.

What is the average tip for different vendors? A friend is getting married this weekend and would like to prepare his envelopes.

for limo, dj, band etc

photogragher- depends on how they did- sometimes a lump sum of like $150 is good enough

its really all subjective though

and dj/band depends on how they did

This is the tipping guide I provide my bridal clients with:

• Flowers/Cake:
o Delivery Person: $20 - $25
o Florist/Baker - no tip required, if you'd like to send a gift, a bottle of wine after the wedding is a great way to say thank you

• Photographer:
o Main Photographer: $150 - $200
o Second Photographer: $100 - $150
o Photographer's Assistant: $75 - $100

• Videographer
o same as photographer

• Hair/Makeup: 15 - 20%

• Music:
o DJ: 15 - 20% (take the total price of DJ/MC services; not the extras such as lighting/plasmas, etc.); ie: $2,000 x 20% = $400, divide it by the number of staff (2) = $200 per DJ/MC)
o Band: put each tip in a separate envelope and distribute to Band Leader (in front of the band members), or distribute to each member; $35 - $50 per member
o Ceremony Musicians: $30 - $40 per member
o Cocktail Hour Musicians: $25 - $35 per member

• Reception Venue (confirm w/Banquet Manager, some may be included in service fee)
o Maitre' D: $3 - $5 per Guest
o Bridal Attendant: $75 - $100
o Captains: $150 - $200
o Coatroom/Restroom Attendants: $1 per guest

• Transportation
o Limos/Shuttles/Buses: 15-20% (if gratuity is not included – check your contract!)
o Valet: $1 - $2 per car
