Those that had to see a high risk doctor during their pregnancy

Did you have to pay a copay every time you went?

I think it depends on your insurance...

Re: Those that had to see a high risk doctor during their pregnancy

I see perinatologist now.
My doc is out of network.. so I had to pay the deductible.. mine was $500 but i had like $400 left.. and then after that it's 60/40 co-insurance (but the doc's office writes off your 40% so you don't have to pay it).

no co-pays

Re: Those that had to see a high risk doctor during their pregnancy

I go weekly. I actually see the DR. about every 4 weeks. When I have a consult with him is the only time I pay a copay.

For in network dr's. Thats usually all you will have to pay.

Almost NO insurace companies charge co pays for just monitoring. A co pay is for an actual Dr. visit.

eta- for those that did, did you see a Dr. Each time? If not and it was an in network Dr. I would check with your insurance to see what they were billing for...they have been billing incorrectly.

Re: Those that had to see a high risk doctor during their pregnancy

I've had to pay a $24 co-pay for each visit. I've seen the Dr. at every visit...she comes into the room after the sono tech is done and goes over the results of the sono, what we are going to do next and when to come back. Sometimes, she has double checked the sonogram and done another herself.

DH's job has a reimbursement program so we submitted the paid statements for a reimbursement of $200.....

For my regular OB - no copay.

For the perinatologist - $20 every visit Chat Icon

Luckily I only had to go to the peri a few times, then my OB took over my high risk care (I had a short cervix, so I had to go every 2 weeks)

I saw a high risk with Kyle (he had the club feet and I had polyhydramnios). I had a copay each time.

My OB's are high risk eventhough I was not considered high risk during my pregnancy. I never paid a copay since they are in my insurance plan network.
