I literally woke up in the middle of night thinking about this.
Kate says it was her fault. And there’s this weird thing going on with her childhood dog.
I bet they all make it out alive and then Kate asks jack to go back inside for the dog. It’s the way he looks at her and that he’ll do anything for her that he does it...and then doesn’t make it out
Oh and then even worse. The dog comes running up to her outside after jack goes in that the dog made it out already
I also think Jack goes back in for the dog and doesn’t make it.

I hope not. That would be ridiculous to risk your life for a video that she can just make again. I think it's for the dog. Same reason why she was sad to adopt a dog.
I am glad she did decide to get Toby a dog. I think it would be good for them and he just does anything to make her happy. Nice to see her do something for him too

I'm annoyed it's after the Superbowl too - and it's going to be super hard to DVR as the Superbowl hardly ever ends on time.
Right?! So annoying. Just wait until the regular time 2 days later.

See, I think it's way too obvious if they have him die in the fire. It's what we all think happens...and these writers never do what we think. lol. Also, having such a beloved character die in a way that is so horrifying may be just a bit too much.
My (crazy) theory...Jack goes back in for the dog, survives, comes out but has severe smoke inhalation or something that warrants him having to go to the hospital. Then bam. Ambulance crashes on the way.
Too much? lol.

Couple of things are still making me think there is allot more then just Jack running back to get the dog and dying......in a past episode Rebecca pulls up to the burnt house wearing her football jersey and in the passenger seat was Jacks personal belongings in the bag. Don't know if that was the next day, a different year all together and her driving past the house.
The writing is just amazing!
If have to go back to rewatch but when Randal and Kevin were talking about being 40 and their dad was gone as long as he was in their life I was thinking that math didn't seem right
But Kevin's leg was broken when dad died so I guess same time frame.
I feel like it's going to be a little disappointing if he died in fire since they have been teasing that for a while. So emotional can't wait to watch

I thought he said he was gone longer than they had him. Or something along those lines.
That is what Randall said, he was gone 20 years, longer than they had him since he died when they were 18.

Yes, they said he was gone 20 years- longer than he was with them.
They were 17 when he died (I think they were turning 18 that year) and now it is 20 years later and they are 37.
I also think he doesn't die in the fire--but in some related way--like the dog runs away & he goes looking for him and gets in an accident.

The fire can't be the cause, knowing the way they twist things and always keep us jaw dropping, it just can't be that clear.
I keep hearing "Will leave everyone in complete shock" when we do find out.....the fire is a given, has to be something else.

Just rewatched. Jack can't die in the fire. I know when Kate says she wants to tell Kevin, he has the cast on but I'm pretty sure at the funeral, he does nothis. I also find it funny that Randall went to see Titanic where Jack dies saving Kate...hmmm. I do think Rebecca is sobbing in front of the house because they lost everything but I think Jack is in the hospital. I wonder if he begins taking pain killers--maybe burned in the fire?

Yea I don’t think the dog dies in the fire just the possibility of Jack dying in the fire trying to rescue the dog.

Maybe the dog kills Jack? 
I said earlier that Jack went after the dog, after the fire, but now I am thinking that the dog 's death is related to the fire , but Jack's is completely separate. But that would depend if the dog was at Miguel's. . .
OK- the dog is at Miguel's. And so is Randall's girlfriend, which I didn't remember. This article describes the scene, and the creator confirms that it all happens on the same night. Most of the stuff he describes as mysterious, we have learned about by now, but the fact that Jack's belongings aren't burnt seems to be important.

Ok I just read a theory that Jack died in the fire trying to save Kevin from his room in the basement. Remember, we never see Rebecca tell Jack that Kevin apologized and was staying at Sophies. She got side tracked b/c Jack started talking about them being business partners. And to take the theory farther, Jack leaves the note for Kevin on the basement and when he hears Randall, he says, "oh, I thought you were kevin"!!!! He has no idea Kevin wasn't home.

Ummm...yeah you're right. That's a good point. I think we're all going to be scratching our heads until the episode actually airs. I usually don't get wrapped up in tv shows like this but this show is killing me!!!!!

I was crying when Randall said their dad had been gone now longer than he was in their lives. I think that really hit home with Kevin.
I’m actually scared to watch the next episode, but I won’t be watching it after the Super Bowl. I feel like it is going to send me reeling and I won’t be able to sleep. Damn show!

So of course I keep thinking about this show. Remember at the beginning Kate told Toby SuperBowls were a really important big thing in her house. I get that. But now knowing that this tragic fire happened the night of the SuperBowl I can’t see them ever looking at it the same. I would absolutely hate that day.
