Tell Me The Low Down About JHS and Color Treated Hair

I color my hair (single process) every 5-6 weeks, largely to cover grey and I would love to try jhs, but I'm afraid it will fry my hair. I have dark, thick, wavy, shoulder length hair. Anyone have any experience doing this with my type of hair?? I would love to hear the good, the bad and the ugly Chat Icon Chat Icon

I get high-lights done and have dark, thick wavy/frizzy hair and had it done. It did not damage my hair but my ends were very dry but I had them trimmed and it looks fine now. You will love it.It totally changed my life. Good Luck if you decide to do it.

I totally think it fried my hair. They trimmed it when I had JHS done (bad trim job) and I recently got it cut by my regular person and the ends still seem fried.

But I still love not having to blow dry & iron my hair all sticky hot summer long.

Do you think you'll do it again and if you don't mind saying, where did you have it done??

Re: Tell Me The Low Down About JHS and Color Treated Hair

I had highlights in April and before that no other coloring since then and I got the JHS 3 wks ago --i dont want to turn you off to this but just now after having this for about 3 weeks I am starting to get breakage. not only that, my hair did not come out pin straight like everyone else's did. It has a criimp like wave that is kind annoying because nothing really gets it straight- no iron or blowdryer. From a distance my hair looks great, straight and not frizzy and def not curly but when you get a close up look you can see waves in it. Also the breakage is kinda freaking me out because my hair was other wise healthy before I had this done. Im really on the fence as to wether or not im going to get this done again. If I do Its going to be on totally non highlighted hair because I think this ius the reason for the breakage and the waves...

ETA: i dont want to give you all the negatives because its not all bad. It is easier to style because its much straighter than its ever been but I def didnt get the 100% perfect results-- many people have though...

i do it. you have to wait a month after coloring it to do it. i've never really had any problems except for dry ends which i cut off.

I went to Hair Club IB. I'm not sure if I will do it again because by the time I would need a touch up, it will not be the sticky hot summer, so I can deal with the drying/ironing (well, not the time it takes, but not having to worry about dripping in sweat AFTER I've showered).

Even though I've been trying to grow out my "Posh Bob", I will probably end up cutting more off soon.

And just to comment on trying again on "non highlighted hair", I had highlights done in November 2005 (my hair length was only to my neck) and they insisted at Hair Club that there were highlights in my hair. Even though it was 2 1/2 years before and I'd had my hair cut SHORT several times!
