Teachers how was your first day back?
So far my kids are great. i really do have a good group this yr. however im exhausted bc i couldnt sleep last night

I just got home!! I am exaushted and I still have so much to do!! I get to meet my students tomorrow. I am not looking forward to this!!

I just got home at 4:30. I was in this morning at 6:45.
No faculty copiers work
I have 5 kids that get a laundry list of accomodations and no support for them in one class. they all really need an inclusion class. I spent an hour and 15 minutes getting IEP's off of the internet today.
Cafeteria Duty with about 200 students 8th period.
New asst. principal, new Supt... a lot of new people... very high turnover
And no contract
Sorry for the vent.
I kept saying over and over to myself today... You are finally having your babies Let it all roll off your back... roll, roll, roll

I am beat!!!!  So far so good, I think I have a good class this year which makes me sad because I'll be leaving them.

I am totally beat! No students today, but lots of meetings and paperwork. I swear I could have stayed until midnight and still had stuff to do!

My students do not come back until next week. I teach special-ed in a psychiatric day treatment center. This week we have inservices.

Great! It looks like I have a great bunch of kids. I have double the amount of girls than boys and I love it! I've always had more boys(by a lot) than girls, and first grade boys drive me bonkers.
I've had the bottom class for 2 years, so it's NICE change, me likey!!!

We are living the same life. I have 15 girls and 5 boys, and they gave me the gifted class so it should be a good year. I have had some rough classes in the past, and it's only first grade.

It was perfectly fine (slightly boring if anything) until dismissal...I lost a girl after she came back into the building  and my extended day group (ugh, don't even get me started on that) wasn't even my class...I had to FIND them, too!

I had a really nice day. I looped with my 4th graders, so there were only a few new faces this morning. I have more students than I was anticipating, but I really enjoyed today.

I could not believe we had extended day today! Half my class had to go to the office to call their parents because they were expected at 2:20, not 3:10. These kids weren't targeted last year and likely won't be targeted this year because they had good scores.
I had my homeroom for the equivalent of 5 periods (and my other class for 2) because homeroom was extended through periods one and two (my preps, of course!) then I had three and four with my other class, then 7, 8 and extended day with my homeroom. I changed seats during extended day and my AP wanted to know why they weren't reading.

I am ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED! I couldn't fall asleep last night...today was so draining..meetings, finishing up for the arrival of the kids tomorrow. I didn't leave until 6. I hope I can sleep tonight, so I am ready for my new crop tomorrow.

WOW if I didn't know better I would say we worked in the same district. Except I don't have cafeteria duty I have PM bus duty and I was given all the months that there are no vacations in of course and we have a contract-- well if you can call that pitful thing a contract
Oh and because of all the chaos in the guidance department from the end of last year and the summer-- well- lets just say some students will have no classes to go to tomorrow.

I'm not a teacher, but DH is and he hasn't spoken much except to say that his principal said to him 'How dare you show up here again' Yeah, um, he's tenured. If you don't want him there then place him elsewhere. She won't let him transfer because she 'doesn't want to pawn him off on someone else'. How'd you like that as a boss to have to deal with every day. Oh, she also said 'I'm going to make sure you don't have an easy year'. His union rep was standing there the whole time- doing nothing. This is after she cancelled the phys ed program and is forcing him to teach a 3rd grade class. He hasn't been in a classroom for 4 years. This year is not going to be a good one.

That is so awful! So sorry for your DH!

I am exhausted!!! I've been in work already since last Tuesday and the sleep deprivation hit quick - lol. Was tossing and turning last night - couldn't sleep. Actually glad the kids are coming tomorrow b/c I've left so many messages on answering machines and it's easier to find the kids when they're in school!
I curse the alarm clock!
