Re: Tax Grievance???

Yes my friend Andrew who lives in L town, and I did too - I dont know if the town gets mad at you though - but I do know that you have to pay the lawyer a percentage of the money if you win the grievence the first year. I believe you can grieve your taxes every year if you like

Re: Tax Grievance???

My mother grieves hers every year and I'm doing the same. The lawyers take a percentage of the amount off that you get for the first year. Also the town can't raise your taxes while a grievence is filed. Every year my mother's taxes went down, even if it was just a bit.

But if you don't go through a lawyer, what do you have to do to grieve your taxes? Just contact the town and fill out paperwork? Chat Icon

Re: Tax Grievance???

you have to file your grievance by march 1st or around then, no later, and you don't have to pay anything, there is a form available...i went to a meeting the other night, and received alot of information about it, they compare your house with 5 similar houses in your area, and do adjustments if they finds them warranted.
