Summer family trip to Boston...

We are looking for a place to take DD (3 1/2) this summer. Has anyone been to the Boston area? How are the aquarium and children's museum? Is there anything else to do in the area? Any recommendations for kid friendly hotels with outdoor pools?

Re: Summer family trip to Boston...

We stayed at the Marriott by the New England Aquarium. We visited the aquarium and the children's museum. You can't do both in a day. You could also walk to Quincy Market and play in Boston Common.

Thank you for the feedback! Did you enjoy your trip? Did your DC enjoy the museum and aquarium? And did the hotel have an outdoor pool? Thanks again! Chat Icon

Re: Summer family trip to Boston...

Both places are really cool (at least they were years ago when I took my niece). No recs on where to stay but if you enjoy historical things you can do Paul Reveer's (sp?) ride as a walking tour.

Re: Summer family trip to Boston...

I live in Boston for a year now. It's a great city. The children's museum is great. It's big with lots to do in it. There's a water rooms and a bubble room so beware. Haha.

It is a walking city so you will walk ALOT. There's the "T" train line that can take you everywhere it just gets very crowded on weekends and euro peak but easy during the day. There are a few sprinkler parks around. A lot of playgrounds, a science museum, I have never been butI hear it's great. The aquarium is small, like ride head but great. Quinncy market is also fun with street performers and shops and of course food. There's a Mac and cheese/grilled cheese stand that's awesome. They make it for order so it takes a while to get. There's a ton of historical walking tours. The commons and garden just a big park to walk around and play for a bit. There's the frog pond which is ice in winter to skate and a small wading pool in summer. It wasn't open last weekend but it could be now. The Charles river is beautiful to walk on and watch boats and rowing.

It's hard to drive around and the parking can be expensive. The navigations systems don't work to well there. We have some issues with it constantly rerouteing. It's annoying.

You can really stay anywhere. Check out Cambridge and Brookline as well. In Boston might be a bit expensive.

Oh and Mikes Pastry in Little Italy. They have the most delicious cannolis. The line gets long at night but if it's. Of busy check it out. They are huge but omg the most amazing cannoli

Re: Summer family trip to Boston...

I lived in Boston for years.

The Children's Museum is the best one I have ever been to. A def must see.

The sciene museum is also great.

The aquarium is nice but not the best I have been to.

Can't really speak about hotels since I don't think I have ever stayed in a Boston hotel and I'm not sure many have pools. I would suggest stayign in Boston rather than one of the burbs.
