Stanley Steemer ?
I am having the carpets cleaned tomorrow and for a few extra bucks (or course) they add a "protector" to the carpet?
Is it worth it or a just a sales pitch?

I've used them twice. I didn't get the protector. I bought a can(s) of Scotch Guard and did it myself.
If you have pets, I would definitely recommend the deodorizer. That makes a huge difference.

I would do it myself as well... but with the kids I opt out of the added crap on the carpets and just clean them more often.

I can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes. It comes in a can and I spray it on after Stanley Steemer leaves and let it dry. You only have to put in on the areas you use most.

We've used them 2x in our house and never got the protector. We're still happy about the carpets.
