Stainless Steel Appliances

Question, being almost all the homes we are looking at have updated stainless steel appliances (which are great!), how do you go about cleaning them? I know they streaking (after spending almost 8 years in the resturant business I know all about streaks).

Is there special cleaners? Do you just use fantastic or windex? Thanks Ladies

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

Well most modern ovens these day have self-cleaning for the inside.

At my parent's place, my parents wipe their's down with a damp cloth sprayed with a cleaner (windex, or fantastic).

If you get a plug in air purifier for the kitchen, you'll notice less dust accumulating on the appliances. We have in our apt.

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

yea, this is for the outside, not the inside of the appliances.

See in the resturant business we used to use stainless steel cleaner but at resturant depot it sells for $14 a can (WAY TOOO EXPENSIVE). I though windex would be ok, but my MIL actually offered us her air purifier (she has 2, no joke). Maybe we'll consider taking it, who knows....

Thanks!

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

There are wipes that I buy at the store made specially for stainless steel. They work pretty well, but it seems like there are ALWAYS streaks.

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

stainless steel magic works very well on ours. It's not that expensive at all.

There is maintenance with SS appliances. That is a con, but if you like the look you deal.

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

That is why I went with black appliances. With kids always touching things, there was no way I could keep up.

This is what we used on our SS appliances in our first apartment. They do a pretty good job.

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

I found this spray (it is the same brand as the stainless steel wipes) at Bed Bath and Beyond that works really well.

I bought both the wipes and the spray because the wipes are good for a quick touch up but I use the spray and one of DH's old t-shirts when I want to do a really good job.

This is the spray that I use for my stainless steel appliances and it is excellent.

I use the stainless steel cleaner but with a dish towel.
I tried windex and paper towels, but there were lots of streaks.
I bought a pack of 3 at Sam's.

I find the windex works good on the satin stainless steel appliances, but the "true stainless steel..I need the cleaner

Re: Stainless Steel Appliances

We have the Stainless Steel Cleaner. Ray uses it on the barbecue grill. It takes elbow grease - you have to work it in like you are waxing your car. It's a lot of work, but worth it.
