Spinoff to my new car post - throwing change
Do you all throw change on the floor mats of a friend's/relative's new car for luck? When I moved out of NY, people had never heard of doing that!

I always tie a dollar to the passanger side (inside) mirror- ALWAYS.

We always throw change or tie a dollar to the bar for good luck and we are jewish....so I am not sure it is an italian thing.

We throw change in my family, we're Italian but I never thought of it as an Italian thing. I guess I thought everyone did it!!!
The tying a dollar to the mirror is a new thing to me, my mom did it for me when I got my Jeep in April but I'd never heard of it before.

I have this brand-new car, and people are throwing stuff in there as soon as I get it! At least throw gas cards, or large bills so I can buy gas!
I know it's tradition in some circles, but I personally find it rude and disrespectful.
I'm pretty sure that hanging anything from the rear-view mirror is technically illegal in NY, even though almost everyone does it.
