so many pictures
I always do a mini session for the holidays to get pictures of DS for our Christmas card. Then he sees Santa at the mall and we buy that picture of course (and the Easter Bunny when it's spring). We also do a family portrait once a year around New Years.
Now he has a school picture coming up in a few weeks (he attends a learning center, so it's not like it's real school). I always feel obligated to buy his school pictures, but really, we don't need them. I don't know why I feel like I have to buy them. It's expensive and some years (like last year) it's not even a good pic. I always just buy it cause it's not like the price is going to bankrupt us. It just kills me though because it's a waste of $. I feel like I'll end up regretting it if I don't buy it though. I guess this is just a vent. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Informally love pictures, but i just bought dds soccer pics because i felt like i needed to even though i didn't like them. I do put all of them pictures in a photo book though, so i think that makes t worth it in the end.

I dont always buy. Last year dd's prek picture stunk so I didn't buy. I lucked out bc they did spring pictures and those came out great. Her first year of dance i bought, last year they were just okay and she didn't love her class so i skipped it. My almost 3yo had pictures this year and I knew she wouldn't smile. She's shy with strangers and no surprise she looked miserable. I didn't buy those either. If I'm not going to do anything with it and I'd prefer my parents and ILs not display it then I see no reason to buy them. We take so many pictures these days I don't think I'll miss them.

Re: so many pictures
I just get the smallest package for the school and dance recital photos. A 5x7 for us and two 3x5s usually for the grandparents. I like to have those for posterity, but don’t give them out to other relatives. We develop our nice Xmas photos with our amazing photographer for the extended family.

Thank for responding. Glad to know I'm not alone. I feel like a sucker but I'll keep buying them. I always just get the digital package because we have no one to give out 16 wallet size pics to. Do people even carry pics around in their wallets anymore? Everything is on our phones now. We give a framed 5x7 to grandparents, but that's about it.
