This is what I dont get.
How can you love snow when it causes such havoc everywhere. I mean I get it can look pretty but in such congested areas like NYC amd LI is just causes so many problems with transportation.

I agree. DH went to take DD to gymnastics just now and we are in an area that was supposed to get 0 to an inch tonight and he said the roads are god awful and vets hwy was all backed up due to an accident.
An accident most likely caused by the snow.
Damage and expense and major inconvenience at best, injuries at worst- that wouldn't have occurred if it hadn't snowed.
Snow would look nice and pretty if i was sitting in a cabin somewhere in the woods, by a roaring fire, in my pjs, drinking hot coca and staring out the window. Not when driving on the LIE, white knuckled and scared shitless.

OMG the roads are awful!!!! I took my DD to gymnastics and it was SO BAD. Light dusting they said?! I wasn't expecting that at all. I should've just turned around, but I didn't. Ugh!!!!

I think because the foeecast was so fuking wrong, the towns didn't prepare. No salting the roads, no plows mobilized.
Dh has AWD and said it was a nightmare.
Thank God i was off today. I would have freaked out if i had to drive in this so called "dusting"

Sooo I left work at 4. I usually take the train to Queens to pick up DD and drive home with DH and DD. We’re usually home at 5:30, closer to 6 on a really bad day. I just got home at 7:45. There’s a decent amount of snow- about 4 inches but the roads/sidewalks are so slippery! And in all our time on the roads, we did not see one plow or salt truck. Hope everyone got home safely!

 For real! I work in Flushing and live in Floral Park- a 20 minute trip. Took me 2 hours!!! My street has yet to be plowed. There was no cozy hot chocolate window gazing in my world tonight! I HATE this crap, and we got slammed way earlier than usual this year. After getting slammed in April.

I didn’t leave my house today and I’m grateful I didn’t have to. My friend took 4 hours to go from West Hempstead to East Northport. What a total sh1tshow!
At least my street is plowed. So if mine is, the main roads must be pretty clean as well. Hopefully tmrw doesnt suck. Though I didn’t shovel because it wa supposed to turn to rain. Hopefully my entire walkway isn’t an ice skating rink in the AM

Totally agree. People who like snow are the ones who can sit on their azz at home & stare at it while the rest of us are out there commuting in it and shoveling it. It causes nothing but problems.

Definitely, I think it was 5+ in the end. I couldn’t believe it when I got off the train & walked to my car the amount of time it took to shovel it out & clear it off. When I parked it this morning I thought it would be nothing!

How is it possible that forecasters are constantly getting it sooo wrong?!?! This isn’t the first time they have done this. Yes snow is pretty....when you expect it and either leave early or don’t go into work.
I now get worried when they predict a storm will be minor. When they hype something up....I brush it off.

I haven't ventured out of my bedroom yet, but its 45 degrees right now so we should be good. Thank the good Lord!

Totally agree. People who like snow are the ones who can sit on their azz at home & stare at it while the rest of us are out there commuting in it and shoveling it. It causes nothing but problems.
I happen to love the snow (not more than sitting on a beach, but still). I have to get up and be at work just like everyone else. I cant call out sick b/c I have to be there to open the doors/alarms/vault. My job very rarely closes. I have kids that I need to get to school or a sitter. And I still love the snow. To me, it’s just serene. I give myself plenty of time to be somewhere and drive slow. Yes, it’s scary to have to be on the roads, but I still love it. I love that my kids get excited to play and I let them enjoy it. The shoveling part is annoying, but if my husband isn’t home to do it I have no problem throwing in snow boots and doing it myself. If I couldn’t, I’d make sure to hire someone that could. Just my outlook on snow.

Omg it took my coworker and I over 3 hrs to get home because port authority was a mob scene. As soon as I saw that I said “let’s get the ferry”. But then I waited an hour for a bus to take me to my house. It took my DH 2.5 hrs to get home from my sons school that is 15min away.
There are hills by my house and cars were spun out blocking streets. Many of them were closed. We have a long driveway and people were spinning out trying to get in. Cars were parked all crazy in our little courtyard. If N.J. freaking shut down for this little snow, we are f%cked this year.

as soon as it started... i noticed it was sticking right away i was like um this is not going to be a dusting lol... we went out to shovel and let the kids play around 6:3- and i started to mix at that point. But yeah id say it was closer to 5"

I know!!! I was at the dentist yesterday afternoon when it started to come down heavy and I said to my dentist. "It must be nice to get your job wrong and still get paid for it. Then you can blame it on how the weather pattern shifted!!!"

What’s with all this animosity towards those of us who enjoy some aspects of the snow? Yes I think it’s pretty, my kids get so excited, etc., so I do enjoy it. I also don’t like shoveling and driving in it, but there’s good and bad about everything.
I personally hate the summer and heat, but I don’t put down those of you who love it and say like “There’s nothing good about 90 degree heat, it’s absolutely disgusting- people can’t breathe, their hair frizzes and their chocolate melts. People who like it are the ones who just get to sit on their azzes all day at the beach.” That’s just rude.
