Smp123 PGD/IVF journal - UPDATE 3/25 - 6 week Sono!

Me: 29
DH: 30

I have a genetic disease where I have a 50/50 chance of passing it along to my children. DH and I decided to do PGD so if we have children, they won't have it.

I am starting a new journal since my last one got very long!

CD3 blood work showed high FSH: 9, 7.8

I have been going to acupuncture once a week for two monthhs, now that my cycle has started, i am doing twice a week.

1/15/09:
went for BW and sono. I have NOT ovulated yet and have to go back next Thursday for some more BW. hopefully by then i will have ovulated and we can get this party started! I was assuming i didn't ovulate yet since my cycle are pretty long (30-33 days) but i was still disappointed to hear i had to wait another week to start Lupron!

1/21/10:
UGH! I am at CD 24 and i still haven't ovulated!! I had my blood work taken this morning and i just got the results that i still haven't O'd! I am going back on Monday for more blood work and sono. Dr. might start me on provera to bring on AF. I am just hoping I O by then

UPDATE: OK so i went out and bought a pack of OPKs and i took the test tonight and i got a SMILEY FACE! I guess i am still going to keep my appointment on Monday bc I think a smiley face means I haven't O'd yet so i guess i will this weekend!

1/25/10:
I Od!!!!!! I went to have my blood drawn again this morning and i just got the call - I ovulated! I can now start my Lupron tomorrow! I also got a call from the PGD lab who is making the probe that is specific to my disease and they told me that it was FINALLY completed! Now there is nothing holding me back from this cycle! They initially told me it would take between 4-10 weeks. Now, 14 weeks later, it's done!

2/7/10:
After 13 days on Lupron, I finally got AF today! I am so excited! Now i can finally start stimming! I think my RE wants to see my on Thursday, 2/11, and then i can start menopur and follisitm on Friday!

2/11/10:
Baseline blood work and sono showed everything clear and good to go! I start 450iU of Follistim tomorrow and lower my Lupron to 5 units!!

2/14/10:
First blood work an sono after starting Follistim - Doctor saw over 20 follicles already! She decreased my dosage from 450 to 225iu. I am still on Lupron, 5 untis, daily. My Estrogen level was 270.

2/16/10:
Blood work and sono - as soon as doctor did sono, his words were, "Oh my!" Apparently, i have a lot of follicles! He kept my dosage of follistim at 225iu and Lupron at 5 units. Estrogen today was 600. Next appointment is Thursday! I am hoping i get some good, mature eggs, and that I don't overstimm! Looking at egg retrieval early next week!

2/18/10:
Bllod work and sono today - Doctor saw around 20 follies and he said they look great! Follistim is reduced to 75 ius and i have to take one vial of menopur tonight and continue on the lupron at 5 units. I have another appointment tomorrow morning! Estrogen is 2,112 - is that too high?

2/19/10:
Blood work and sono - everything looks great, follies are almost mature! most are 17mm! Estrogen is 4,148. RE is concerned about OHSS so no meds for me tonight, just Lupron tomorrow! I am a bit nervous about OHSS, but am praying everything works out!

2/20/10:
Blood work and sono - All follies look good and ready to go!! RE said there looked like 12-15 good ones, and he wouldn't be surprised if there were more! Estrogen came back at 4,400, which is great that it didn't rise too much and i get to TRIGGER TONIGHT!!! I am triggering with 5,000 HCG at 10pm, Egg Retrieval on Monday!

2/22/10:
So, my Estrogen as of yesterday was 8,600! VERY high, but my RE didn't seemed too concerned about it. Had my ER today and they got 30 eggs!

I cannot believe it! But, i guess we will see how good they are tomorrow. I am definitely in a lot of pain now and am praying so hard I don't get OHSS. Hopefully the gallons of Gatorade I have been drinking will help out! Thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes, you have no idea how much they mean to me!

2/23/10:
Definitely still in lots of pain from the ER yesterday! Got my fert report - 30 eggs, 23 mature, only 11 fertilized. I am disappointed because PGD is going to take so many away that i hope I am left with two to put back! I am also sad that I probably won't have any to freeze. I guess i just have to wait to see what happens, but i am just disappointed

2/27/10:
Transfer is DONE!! Since we did PGD, we had to go to my REs office at 9am and basically wait for the PGD report to come in. We used a lab in Detroit and they made a special probe to test my embies for the disease that runs in my family. after THREE AND A HALF HOURS of waiting, we finally got the report!!

out of 11 embies, 4 had the disease, 2 they couldn't get a diagnosis on, and 5 did not have the disease!
of the five that didn't have the disease, one arrested.
They transferred two HATCHING BLASTS!
they froze another hatching blast and one poorer quality embie so i have two frosties!

I have been on best rest since yesterday and it stinks! my back hurts so much from just laying here. i am taking tomorrow off from work also.

now we wait!!

3/11/10: BETA!

3/18/10:

Today was my five week sono with Dr. Hershlag - when he started the sono, he immediately saw one. He then started looking around some more and said, "oh wait, i think there might be another one in there!"

Since it is so early, he said it is really difficult to tell how many are in there or how they are doing at this point. So he basically just said it "might" be another one, but it's small and I don't see a yolk sac yet, so I am considering it one pregnancy.

The, he kept looking around and he saw that same second sac again. He looked at it more carefully, and he saw that it was outlined with the white "halo". It was a nice size, not as big as the first one, but it was still there. He changed his mind and said, "i will consider this a double pregnancy" - TWINS!

But wait! He started looking around some more, and he thought he saw ANOTHER ONE! He said, "oh wow, i hope that last one didn't split!" He said it's WAY too early to tell right now, and that next week's sono will tell us more, but he said there are two in there, possibly three!

So right now I dont know if there is one, two, or three in there!!

3/25/10:

Today was my 6 week sono - i was SO nervous when i got there. I really thought something was wrong. As soon as the Dr. started doing the sono, he said, "There are .... TWO heartbeats!"
I'm having twins! The Dr. told me since i am so early there is still a chance that i could lose one, but hopefully they both stick around for a while!
