Silly Question - do you have to sell a home with the washer and dryer?

I'm not cheap but we are about to list and the darn wash/dryer combo broke. The property that we are hoping to buy will definately need a new washer and dryer. So, I would rather try to make it the next couple of months without purchasing a new unit - I don't know how. Thoughts??

Should I just not say anything? That's stinky to do but????

I wouldnt buy another set for the resale of your home. Personally I never see that and if I was bying a home that is not what i'm looking for as a bonus.

I wouldn't worry about buying a new set just to help sell your house, I doubt it would be a deal breaker anyway.

The house we bought had a washer that was almost as old as the house! We knew we were going to throw out the seller's and buy new ones as soon as we saw the house, that definitely didnt stop us from buying!

just make sure the agent doesnt list that it has a washer/dryer. if it is listed then i think it has to be sold with one and you have to make sure it works.

That is defintely not going to be a deciding factor on whether or not i'm going to buy the house..don't worry about it..just make sure its not on the listing like someone said previously.

We bought our house and it did not have a washer and dryer. The woman was renting the lower level of the house out and had removed them. Which was fine by us because I got to pick the ones I wanted!!

I don't think it's necessary to purchase a set, besides many people would rather just buy new ones or bring their old ones because that's what more comfortable for them.

U dont have to, I agree dont list them. When we were looking for houses, I didnt even ask about the washer dryer. Of course we could onlly afford handyman specials, so I assumed if the house looked like crap I wouldnt think the washer dryers would be in better condition

I agree...I don' t think that you need to make that purchase. But, if you find that people keep questioning it then you might want to consider buying a simple/low cost set. Not before though - wait to hear some feedback.

When we bought our place we knew right off the bat that we needed a new stove, a new washer and a new dryer...plus we needed to purchase a microwave (they didn't leave one) and there was no dishwasher. Didn't stop our offer.

you don't need them but I'd just clarify when you went to contract that they are not included - just so there aren't any surprises down the road.

Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if they weren't included, as long as the connections worked.

I bought new construction and the builder included everything b esides a frig and washer and dryer...it wasn't a deal breaker at all...I got to pick out exactly what I wanted.
