Shots for arthritis
I'm asking for my mom who recently got diagnosed with arthritis in her knees. She thought she tore something and was going to need surgery so I guess its "good news".
Anyway, the doctor sugested some sort of shots of oil for this and she has been googling people's experiences and getting mixed reviews.
Can anyone share their experience or parents' experience with this? Did it help/hurt?
Thank you from a worried daughter

Re: Shots for arthritis
Is the dr talking about synvisc shots? It's where they inject a gel like substance into the knee to act like a cushion for tbe joint. if so, my mom has had it a few times and has gotten relief from it.

Re: Shots for arthritis
I get Euflexxa shots in both my knees every six months. It gives me relief for a while since I do not have any cartiledge left. It is a gel with a synthetic hyalauronic acid and an anti-inflammatory and pain releiver. No side effects. 3 shots in each knee spaced one week apart. The shots can hurt, you feel pressure as the gel goes in, but the relief is almost instant. My next step is total knee replacements. Mom should try it. The cushioning is important to prevent further joint damage.
