severe skin peeling - toddler feet
this happens to my son everyone once in a while. he is almost 28 months and from time to time (seems like if he is in water shoes or crocs for a long period of time) his skin peels BADLY on his feet. Looks like blister peeling but no blisters, no pain - just peeling skin. Mostly on the bottom of his foot and between his toes.
Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if maybe his shoes are too tight though he doesnt complain.

severe skin peeling - toddler feet
That happened to my daughter this summer after wearing her sandals (which she wears in the water sometimes, too) too often. I don't know if it has anything to do with the size, I just assumed it was the rubbing of soft skin (their feet aren't as tough as ours!) on the rubbery shoe surface. I started putting her in sneakers and socks most of the time when I noticed it happening. Now she only wears sandals to the beach, pool or to play in water.

I would change him out of wet shoes once he's done in the water. Tell daycare to do the same. that should stop it..the skin is staying wet for too long.

thanks Lin, I would think they do that but I'll confirm. I know they are out in the water (baby pools, sprinklers etc) for 2ish hours in the afternoon. Maybe he should do it bare foot for a few days.

This happens to my son too. I think it may be some sort of fungal infection. I put lotrimin on for a couple of days and it got better. Now I just use coconut oil or aquaphor after his bath and it seems to be a lot better!

i dont think its fungal - doesnt look like anything other than peeling skin (like how a sunburn peels but no burn).
I spoke with his daycare, a few of the kids have it - they say from water activities everyday... they spend 2+ hours outside in watershoes everyday as long as the weather cooperates. I think friction adds to it.
The only other time is was like this was last year when I got him his first crocs - they had little dots in the sole and I think those cause friction which caused the peeling. I will watch it and if it dosent get better with less water/exposure etc. I will call the Ped
